1-10-2012.
This is the date which I shall never ever forget in my life. There are dates for several milestones in one’s life, like date of Birth, Date of graduation, Date of Marriage, Date of retirement etc etc. barring a few, one forgets all other dates, because those dates have no relevance to his current or future life.

Certain dates one can never forget, because those are the dates when one’s life had taken a turn – like a Marriage date or a Retirement date etc. 1-10-2012 is neither my date of Birth nor my marriage nor retirement date. So, what is there that makes it so unforgettable ?

Today’s song is from the film Bhabhi-1938.

When the film ‘Bhabhi’ is mentioned, we first remember the 1957 AVM film Bhabhi, which had very good songs like ” Chal ud jaa re panchhi” in 3 parts or “Chali chali re patang meri chali” etc. This was a very successful and a popular film – a truly ‘Family Picture’, in those days. There were 3 movies with the same title ‘Bhabhi’ released in 1938, 1957 and 1991.

Today’s song is from a very old film- Janmabhoomi-1936.

During the British Raj, film makers had to be very careful in making a film to ensure that nothing derogatory or against the Raj was found in the film. Making a Patriotic film was a risky business and hence hardly any direct patriotic dialogue or songs could be found which would incite the Censor Board to hold their film for issuance of the Censor Certificate.

Founded in 1934 as a Public limited company, Bombay Talkies had a modern, well equipped film studio. Its owners were Himanshu Rai and Devika Rani, both coming from rich and educated families. Having spent years in England and Germany, they had very ambitious plans for film making. Their technical staff was from Germany and for other departments, they had a very good select team.
