“Gauri”(1968) was a Shivaji Films Production. The movie was directed by A Bhimsingh. The starcast of the movie had names like Sunil Dutt, Nutan, Sanjeev Kumar, Mumtaz, Rajendra Nath, Laxmi Chhaya, Urmila Bhatt, Leela Mishra, Ashim Kumar, Shivraj, Om Prakash etc in it.

Today(25th may) happens to be the seventh death anniversary of Sunil Dutt (6 june 1929-25 may 2005). Born Balraj Dutt, Sunil Dutt was one of the earliest Radio Ceylon announcers before he got his break in Hindi movies in “Railway Platform” (1955).

As a music director, N Dutta worked for films that are a mix of A grade and B/C grade films. He did have some films associated with big name banners. Especially, he worked for BR Films for the movies Saadhna (1958), Dhool Ka Phool (1959) and Dharamputra (1961). Each of these films is a musical bonanza and boasts of a string of wonderful hits. Four songs of the 1958 film ‘Saadhna’ are already posted on this blog. This is the 5th gem from this film.
