TALAT MEHMOOD- ” God gave emotions to Human beings and to make him emotional, He sent Talat Mehmood ! ” so said a Music expert. And I agree with him. Talat, with his velvety voice and a God given “LARGISH” (a technical term for the tremor in his voice) regaled soft music lovers with his inimitable songs. he was not only incomparable but he was also Unique and I am sure there will not be another Talat in future.

This is the seventh song in my series ‘Songs from Album Varsha Ritu’. Amongst the male popular singers during that musical period, classical and semi-classical songs were the forte of Manna Dey and Mohammad Rafi. Mukesh and Talat sang very few songs in that category. This Talat non-film song in Miyaa-Malhar is penned and tuned by the HMV staffer Murli Manohar Swaroop. Lots is written about Talat Mahmood in other postings of his songs on this Blog. Not to repeat much, a brief report from Wikipedia should be more than enough.

HASEENA (1955) was produced under the banner of Shabaab Productions and directed by J P Advani. The star cast included Jairaj, Shyama, Krishna Kumari, Amarnath, Manmohan Krishna, Durga Khote etc. I had not heard of this film until few days back. With Jairaj in the film, my guess turned out to correct that the film was a costume drama as the story unfolds below.
