Kya miliye aise logon se

Posted on: November 15, 2008

When a seminar/ get-together/ function etc is organised, these programmes have addresses made by eminent people viz chief guest, invited dignitaries etc. Suppose Bollywood decided to make a movie on this topic. Then how would a movie made on this subject look like ?

I can visualise Dharmendra playing the role of the chief guest. He would stand behind the microphone and address the gathering. Since it is a Bollywood movie, this address would be in the form of a song. Suppose Dharam ji has to talk on the topic of “need for transparancy in public life”, then here is just the perfect song that would serve as an ideal keynote address for the gathering.

Dharam ji actually sang this song standing behind the microphone in the movie “Izzat” in 1968. More precisely, the song was picturised on him and was sung by Rafi.

Dharam ji delivered quite a few such keynote songs in 1960s and 70s, in which he came down heavily on “bewafa”, “dagabaaz” ladies viz Asha Parekh etc. Dharam ji’s policy was clear, if it was a lady who rubbed him the wrong way, he would sing a hard hitting song, standing behind the microphone.

In case it was a man who wronged him, then too Dharam ji sang such songs till 1960s. In 1970s, he dispensed with the niceties of singing these songs, rather he started resorting to such direct action dialogues viz. “kutte, kameene, main tera khoon pee jaaunga”.

Here is Dharam ji,delivering his address where he is seen taking a dim view of hypocrites.

Song- Kya miliye aise logon se (Izzat) (1968) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, Music- Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

kyaa miliye
kyaa miliye aise logon se, jinki fitrat chhupi rahe
kyaa miliye aise logon se, jinki fitrat chhupi rahe
nakli chehraa saamne aaye, asli soorat chhupi rahe
kyaa miliye aise logon se, jinki fitrat chhupi rahe
nakli chehraa saamne aaye, asli soorat chhupi rahe

khud se bhi jo khud ko chhupaaye, kyaa unse pahchaan karen
kyaa unke daaman se lipten, kyaa unkaa armaan karen
khud se bhi jo khud ko chhupaaye, kyaa unse pahchaan karen
kyaa unke daaman se lipten, kyaa unkaa armaan karen
jinki aadhi neeyat ubhre, aadhi neeyat chhupi rahe,
nakli chehraa saamne aaye, asli soorat chhupi rahe

dildaari kaa dhong rachaakar, jaal bichhaayen baaton kaa
jeete jee kaa rishtaa kahkar, sukh dhoondhen kuchh raaton kaa
dildaari kaa dhong rachaakar, jaal bichhaayen baaton kaa
jeete jee kaa rishtaa kahkar, sukh dhoondhen kuchh raaton kaa
rooh ki hasrat lab par aaye, jism ki hasrat chhupi rahe,
nakli chehraa saamne aaye, asli soorat chhupi rahe

jinke zulm se dukhi hai janta
har basti har gaaon me
daya dharam ki baat kare wo
baith ke saji sabhaaon mein
jinke zulm se dukhi hai janta
har basti har gaaon me
daya dharam ki baat kare wo
baith ke saji sabhaaon mein
daan ka charcha ghar ghar pahunche
loot ki daulat chhupi rahe
nakli chehraa saamne aaye, asli soorat chhupi rahe

dekhen in nakli chehron ki kab tak jayjaykaar chale
ujle kapdon ki tah me kab tak kaala sansaar chale
dekhen in nakli chehron ki kab tak jayjaykaar chale
ujle kapdon ki tah me kab tak kaala sansaar chale
kab tak logon ki nazron se chupi haqeeqat chupi rahe
nakli chehraa saamne aaye, asli soorat chhupi rahe
kyaa miliye aise logon se, jinki fitrat chhupi rahe
nakli chehraa saamne aaye, asli soorat chhupi rahe

Hilarious intro, Atul.
Just too good.

Indeed, Dharam has quite a few songs like this..Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Mere Hamdam Mere Dost, Devar, Anupama….

I like this song..am listening to it after a long time.
