Ye raatein ye mausam nadi ka kinaara

In 1950s, there were a few movies, (now forgotten) that had Delhi (Dilli) in the title of the movie. These movies tended to have Kishore Kumar in the lead role. For example, Kishore Kumar acted in “Nai Dilli” (1957) as well as “Dilli ka thug” (1959).
In both these movies, Kishore Kumar acted as well as sang his songs. These movies may have been forgotten by now, but these movies had some wonderful songs in them. “Dilli ka thug” in fact had two fantastic duet songs (as well as a few solo songs).
One of these duets was a romantic song that went “ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi ka kinaara”. Both Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle sang this song so beautifully. This must be one of the earliest duets sung by these two, and Ravi, the music director managed to extract the best out of them. The lyricist Shailendra too came up with wonderful lyrics.
Song-ye raaten ye mausam nadi kaa kinaara( Dilli ka thug) (1958) Singers- Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics- Shailendra, MD- Ravi
Lyrics
ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi kaa kinaaraa, ye chanchal hawaa
aaa hmm
ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi kaa kinaaraa, ye chanchal hawaa
kahaa do dilon ne, ki milkar kabhi ham, na honge judaa
ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi kaa kinaaraa, ye chanchal hawaa
ye kyaa baat hai aaj ki chaandni mein
ye kyaa baat hai aaj ki chaandni mein
ke ham kho gaye pyaar ki raagini mein
ye baahon mein baahen, ye bahki nigaahen
lo aane lagaa zindagi kaa mazaa
ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi kaa kinaaraa, ye chanchal hawaa
sitaaron ki mahfil ne karke ishaaraa
sitaaron ki mahfil ne karke ishaaraa
kahaa ab to saaraa jahaan hai tumhaaraa
muhabbat jawaan ho, khulaa aasamaan ho
kare koyi dil aarzoo aur kyaa
ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi kaa kinaaraa, ye chanchal hawaa
qasam hai tumhe tum agar mujhse roothe
qasam hai tumhe tum agar mujhse roothe
rahe saans jab tak, ye bandhan na toote
tumhen dil diyaa hai, ye waadaa kiyaa hai
sanam main tumhaari rahoongi sadaa
ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi kaa kinaaraa, ye chanchal hawaa
kahaa do dilon ne, ki milkar kabhi ham, na honge judaa
ye raaten, ye mausam, nadi kaa kinaaraa, ye chanchal hawaa

What a wonderful song. I guess it could qualify as one of our mental massage songs. Nutan is absolutely beautiful and fresh. I am so much in love with her :).
