Kayi sadiyon se….Aaja ke adhoora hai apna milan

Posted on: November 28, 2008

This song is a forgotten gem from 1970s. I call it a gem on several counts.

I have listened to this song many times in the past and liked it. It is a song sung by Mukesh. It is not as melancholic a song as many other Mukesh songs tended to be. It is more like a “sau baar janam lenge” genre of song, which was a speciality of Rafi.

Not that Mukesh had not sung this kind of song. In fact, this song appears similar to his song from “Milan” viz “ham tum yug yug se ye geet milan ke gaate rahen hain”.

When I watched the picturisation, I was surprised to know that it was picturised on Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy. I know that they acted as lead pair in many movies, but I was not sure that Shatrughan Sinha began to act as hero in 1972 itself. I thought that he began his herogiri a few years later.

Lyricist for this movie is that largely underrated and underutilised Naqsh Llayalpuri. He and Qamar Jalalabadi were too lyricist who tended to get overshadowed by the other leading lyricists of the day, despite possessing immense talent which was second to none.

And guess who is the music director ? It is not any well known name, but someone called Brij Bhooshan. Someone who can come up with such wonderful composition deserved to get more breaks as a music director. Too bad that he failed to break into the big league.

Song-Kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se..Aaja ke adhoora hai apna milan (Milaap) ( 1972) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Naqsh Llayalpuri,MD-Brij Bhushan

Lyrics

ho o o o o
ho o o o o
ho o o o o
kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se
tere pyaar ko tarse meraa man
aa jaa
aa jaa ke adhooraa hai apnaa milan
kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se
kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se
tere pyaar ko tarse meraa man
aa jaa
aa jaa ke adhooraa hai apnaa milan
kayi sadiyon se

raahon mein kahin, nazar aayaa
apne hi khayaalon kaa saayaa
raahon mein kahin, nazar aayaa
apne hi khayaalon kaa saayaa
kuchh der meraa man, lahraayaa
o o o o, phir doob gayi aashaa ki kiran
aa jaa
aa jaa ke adhooraa hai apnaa milan
kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se
kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se
tere pyaar ko tarse meraa man
aa jaa
aa jaa ke adhooraa hai apnaa milan
kayi sadiyon se

sapnon se mujhe, na yoon bahlaa
paayal ke khoye geet jagaa
sapnon se mujhe, na yoon bahlaa
paayal ke khoye geet jagaa
sunsaan hai jeewan ki bagiyaa
o o o o, soonaa hai bahaaron kaa aangan
aa jaa
aa jaa ke adhooraa hai apnaa milan
kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se
kayi sadiyon se, kayi janmon se
tere pyaar ko tarse meraa man
aa jaa
aa jaa ke adhooraa hai apnaa milan
kayi sadiyon se

Lovely song !!!

I saw this movie as a young boy.

I don’t remember the story very much except that it was full of snake scenes.

Indeed a very good song and the music director is very good!

Yes, it is a wonderful song composed by a music director that deserved to be better known.

very beautiful song….

This must be a song based on clasical rag. This melody haunts all music lovers. A not well known music director”s composition and lyricist Naqshlal puri is simply divinely pleasant.. May their tribe increase. Guruprasad.

Guruprasad ji

It ts based on Raga SHIVRANJANI.
