Kal yahaan aayi thhi wo

Raja, the biggest fan of this blog recalls that “meri pyari bahaniya banegi dulhaniya” seemed to be written with him in mind because of the line “Bhaiya Raja bajaayega Baja” in that song from “Sachcha Jhootha”.
Bollywood did not just stop at that. They honoured him by making a movie that they named “Raja” (1975). This movie featured Rishi Kapoor and Sulakshana Pandit and it had all the ingredients of a masaala Bollywood movie.
Here is a timepass song from this movie sung by Kishore Kumar. The music was composed by R D Burman. I am not aware who was the lyricist. I am sure Raja will be able to help me out there. 😉
Song-Kal yahaan aayi thi wo (Raja) (1975) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics
Kal yahaan aayi thhi wo
kya
aaj bhi aayegi wo
aaye to aaye mazaa aa jaaye ae ae
Kal yahaan aayi thhi wo
kya
aaj bhi aayegi wo
aaye to haaye mazaa aa jaaye ae ae
haathon se mere nikal gaya hai
kitna achcha mauqa
de gayi dhokha
ee ee
de gayi dhokha aa
aayi gayi yoon guzar gaya jaise
ek hawa ka jhonka
de gayi dhokha
ee ee
de gayi dhokha aa
Is tarah sharmaayi thhi wo
kya
phir yoonhi sharmaayegi wo
shamrmaaye to haaye mazaa aa jaaye ae ae
lo aa gayi
lo wo aa gayi ee
mere dil ki raani
o dilbarjaani ee ee
dilbarjaani ee
aaj to jaane doonga use main
leke premnishaani
o dilbarjani ee ee
dilbarjaani ee
dar ke yoon ghabraayi thhi wo ke
aaj phir ghabraayegi wo
ghabraaye to haaye mazaa aa jaaye
ae ae
Kal yahaan aayi thhi wo
kya
aaj bhi aayegi wo
aaye to haaye mazaa aa jaaye
ae ae ae ae

Ha ha ha !
Nice one, Atul. 🙂
The lyricist is Anand Bakshi.
Having the name of Raja can result in interesting experiences. You can have pretty women swoon over you (“aaja o mere raja, jannat ki sair karaoon main” – Mumu in Apna Desh) or Dream Girl Hema go “o mere raja, o mere raja” (Johny Mera Naam).
Or you can have women actually give you the miss and eye your property, saying “Nazar laagi raja tore bangle pe” (Kaala Pani).
Or, they may decide to just tie you a rakhi and say “bhaiya raja bajayega baja” (Sacha Jhootha).
Or you can be bold enough to approach Jaya Bhaduri and say “main ek raja hoon, tu meri rani hai” (Uphaar).
And there are many other interesting situations that a Raja gets into. But I won’t bore you here. 🙂
Thanks, Atul, for as usual an entertaining intro.
As for this song, nice one. Have heard it long back – not recently.

Here are two more Raja songs:
Raja ki aayegi baraat – Lata
Raju ka hai ek khwab raju raja raja sahab – Rafi
I hadn’t heard this song from Raja before, in fact, I had never heard of this movie, either. Interesting song.
