Teri jheel si gahri aankhon mein

Posted on: January 18, 2009

Mukesh had become such a brand name that when his son Nitin decided to become a playback singer like his father, he used his father’s name like a surname and was known as Nitin Mukesh.

Later, Roshan’s sons and grandson also used Roshan ( first name of Roshan lal Nagrath, the ace music director) as surname. Thus we have Rajesh Roshan, Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan in Bollywood.

Nitin Mukesh though could not himself become a brand name unlike his father. When it was the turn of Nitin’s son Neil to try his luck in Bollywood, he added the names of his father as well as grandfather to this name. Thus he is known as Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Nitin Mukesh made his playback debut in a 1974 movie called “Dhuen ki lakeer”. The movie had newcomers like Ramesh Arora, Parveen Babi,Deenu Harish and Preeti Ganguli. The movie sank without a trace.

This particular song “teri jheel si gahri aankhon me” was a duet sung by Nitin Mukesh and Vani Jayram. No video of this song is available, but I guess that the song was picturised on Ramesh Arora and Parveen Babi. The lyricist and Music director were just as new. Someone called Rameshwar Tyagi was the lyricist. Music director was one Shamji Ghanshamji. It was one single person going my a name that gave the illusion of being a music director duo. Very little is known about Shamji Ghanshamji, but he gave some good musivc in those days which were soon forgotten because the movies in which he gave music all turned out to be flops.

This song was a nice song to listen to, but it suffered from lack of exposure. Since few people bothered to watch this movie, so most people ended up not listening to this song, and the song failed to get mush exposure among the listeners. As a result, this song ended up being a rare song, which is so difficult to come by.

I have now located the video too. This song is picturised on a very young Parveen Babi ( it was her second movie) and Ramesh Arora.

Song- Teri jheel si gahri aankhon mein (Dhuen ki lakeer ) (1974) Singers-Nitin Mukesh, Vani Jayram, Lyrics-Rameshwar Tyagi, MD-Shamji Ghanshamji

teri jheel si gahri aankhon mein
kuchh dekhaa hamne, kyaa dekhaa
tum bataao

main samajh gayi re deewaane
toone raat koyi sapnaa dekhaa
teri jheel si gahri aankhon mein
kuchh dekhaa hamne, kyaa dekhaa
main samajh gayi re deewaane
toone raat koyi sapnaa dekhaa
teri jheel si gahri aankhon mein

saanson mein chhipi dhadkan ke sang
jab pyaar ne li thi angdaayi
ek swarg pari chham-chham karti
baanhon mein meri aa muskaayi
madmast jawaani kaa palkon ke aanchal me chipna dekha
main samajh gayi re deewaane
toone raat koyi sapnaa dekhaa
teri jheel si gahri aankhon mein

amrit ke saagar ki shruti
mandir ke deepak ki jyoti
alhad kamlon par pade huye
heere neelam maanik moti
teri uthti jhukti palkon mein
teri uthti jhukti palkon mein
sooraj dekhaa chandaa dekhaa
main samajh gayi re deewaane
toone raat koyi sapnaa dekhaa
teri jheel si gahri
