Mukesh is reputed to be a singer par excellence as far as sad songs were concerned. But I am finding that Mukesh was a singer par excellence for romantic songs as well. The kinds of songs where he sings for the lady sound so sincere and sensuous that these songs have no option but to straighaway walk into the hall of fame of immortal songs.
This particular song, which uses the word “Chand” and “aah” among other words makes it a fit candidate to qualify for the “Chaayaageet” category of song as well, not to speak of the “car” category, since the song plays in the background while Mala Sinha is seen riding in the backseat of a car.
Wooing one’s lady love by talking about “chand” and other such stuff was quite popular in Bollywood songs of those days. I recall that I had posted another song “Chand ko kya maloom”, which was incidentally another Mukesh song that was picturised on a Tonga. In fact, I can reel off some more immortal Mukesh songs containing “Chand”, which I will post in this blog in due course of time.

Yes, Mukesh has sung some memorable songs under the music direction of Kalyanji Anandji.

This is one of my favourite Mukesh – Kalyanji-Anandji songs.
I just loved it.
Joint favourite with “hum chhod chale hain mehfil ko”.
Later on I heard more songs like “jo tumko ho pasand” and the famous songs of “Saraswatichandra”.
Lots of good songs Mukesh has sung for this composer duo.
