This movie is called “Tarana” (1951) and it had Dilip Kumar and Madhubala in the lead roles. This movie had some very good music composed by Anil Biswas on the lyrics written by Prem Dhawan.

“Sant Gyaneshwar” was a C grade small budget Bollywood, the likes of which routinely go into oblivion unnoticed. But the music of this movie elevated the movie so much that one of its songs went on to become a bhajan, as well a prayer in schools, homes, etc.

Ye dosti ham nahin chhodenge

“Sholay” was a movie known for its dialogues and for its thrill a minute storyline, but it had some songs too, in case anyone noticed. And these songs too gelled well with the storyline. And come to think of it, Sholay had a dosti song, a holi song, a Helen song, a teasing song- in short, songs of different genres that were considered a must in any masala bollywood movies were very much there in Sholay.

Do rang duniya ke aur do raaste

“Do Raaste” was a musical blockbuster. It had great songs sung by Rafi, Lata, and Kishore Kumar. But it was Mukesh who got to sing the Title song, and needless to say, this song too is just as popular as the other songs of this movie. Mukesh has sung this song full of pathos, as was his wont.

By now I have lost count of Rafi songs sung for Shammi Kapoor. Almost all these songs were popular then, are popular now and will remain popular in future ( to paraphrase a Rafi song).
