Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon

Posted on: April 4, 2009

I had mentioned a little known fact in some earlier posts that Madan Mohan had once given music for an Amitabh Bachchan movie. Here is another little known fact- Amitabh Bachchan has also worked in a Rajshri productions movie. And this Rajshri production movie was very much a small budget deglamourised affair as was the case for all Rajshri productions movies of those days.

This movie was called “Saudaagar” (1973) and this movie had a up and coming struggling Amitabh pitted against senior actress Nutan.

This movie had some very fine music by debutant music director Ravindra Jain. In future Rajshri Production movies, Ravindra Jain would use new singers, but here he had used the voices of established singers.

Here is a superb song sung by Kishore Kumar in this movie. This song was picturised on Amitabh Bachchan playing a villagee of Bengal and he is seen wearing kuta and striped Lungi and carrying earthen pots from one place to other. It is clear that this picturisation had taken place at real locations in Bengal.

Song- Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon (Saudaagar) (1973) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Ravindra Jain, MD- Ravindra Jain

Lyrics

Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon
Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon
ras ka phoolon ka geeton ka beemaar hoon
ras ka phoolon ka geeton ka beemaar hoon
Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon

saara gaaon mujhe rasiyaa kahe
saara gaaon mujhe rasiyaa kahe
jo bhi dekhe man basiyaa kahe
haay re jo bhi dekhe man basiyaa kahe
sabki nazron ka ek main hi deedaar hoon
ras ka phoolon ka geeton ka main beemaar hoon
Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon

koyi kahe bhanwra mujhe koi deewaana
bhed mere man ka magar kisi se na jaana
koyi kahe bhanwra mujhe koi deewaana
bhed mere man ka magar kisi se na jaana
rona maine kabhi seekhaa nahin
rona maine kabhi seekhaa nahin
chakha jeewan me phal feekaa nahin
haay re haay chakha jeewan me phal feekaa nahin
main to har mol dene ko tayyar hoon
ras ka phoolon phoolon ka geeton geeton ka beemaar hoon
Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon
ras ka phoolon ka geeton ka beemaar hoon
Har haseen cheez ka main talabgaar hoon

I saw this movie some years ago because I was intrigued by the combination of Amitabh and Nutan.
Songs are very good, movie is OK too (I like village movies anyway, they are more earthy) – and Padma Khanna opposite Amitabh is the real pairing though there are Amitabh-Nutan scenes also.

This particular song is very nice. As is “sajna hai mujhe”.

I saw this movie because that was the time of my Amitabh phase, before he became the superstar and the “angry young hero” label was given to him. There was one nice song filmed on Padma Khanna too, but I can’t remember the song.

That nice song was “sajna hai mujhe sajna ke liye”.
That reminds me, I should post this song too.
