Tera jaadu naa chalegaa o sapere

Posted on: May 20, 2009

The been music of “Nagin” became so popular that it was widely copied in several songs. Several music directors of that era have used “been” music in their songs.

Here is a song from “Guest House” (1959). The “been” music is impressive as is the song and dance that follows. The song is sung by Lata and is picturised on Helen. And no, it is not a cabaret dance. Helen is dressed as a classical dancer and the song is a semi classical song. To my biased mind who is so used to watching Helen perform “western” dances in “western” outfits, this is an interesting change.

The song is a party song as well, since Helen is dancing and important characters viz Shakeela (heroine), Pran ( villain), Tiwari (his sidekick) etc are in attendance as is usual in a party song.

The movie is called “Guest House” (1959). Ajit was the hero of this movie, and this movie had some nice songs written by Prem Dhawan with music by Chitragupta.
