“Anarkali” (1953) was one of the all time great musical blockbusters. Its songs have gone on to become iconic songs. C Ramchandra was the music director of this movie and Rajinder Krishan had written the lyrics.

“Paaras” (1971) was a movie starring Sanjeev Kumar and Rakhi. This movie may have been forgotten, along with its songs. But one just needs to listen to the songs of this movie to realise what fine songs this movie had.

When I was a kid, wearing a swimming costume used to be a big deal for Bollywood actresses. Wearing such costumes was considered against the Indian culture and was considered tantamount to exposing. Thus we used to read interviews from virtuous actresses saying that they would never wear such revealing dresses in their movies.

Manna Dey was one singer, who despite his ability, was typecast as a singer for bit actors. There were very few movies where he got to sing for the hero. But whenever he got such a chance, he came up with some superb songs.
