Tumhaare bulaane ko jee chaahtaa hai

Posted on: June 9, 2009

Here is a very old song from “Laadli” (1949). This song is sung by Lata who was then a newcomer.

Behzad Lucknowi is the lyricist of this song, and Anil Biswas is the music director. And this is a song which is as old as 60 years ago. And Lata’s voice sounds so wonderfully fresh in this song.

Song-Tumhaare bulaane ko jee chaahtaa hai (Laadli) (1949) Singer-Lata, Lyrics- Behzad Lucknowi , MD-Anil Biswas

Lyrics

tumhaare bulaane ko ji chaahtaa hai, ji chaahataa hai
tumhaare bulaane ko ji chaahtaa hai, ji chaahataa hai
muqaddar banaane ko ji chaahtaa hai, ji chaahataa hai
tumhaare bulaane ko

jo tum aao, to saath khushiyaan bhi aayen, khushiyaan bhi aayen
jo tum aao, to saath khushiyaan bhi aayen, khushiyaan bhi aayen
mera muskuraane ko ji chahta hai ji chaahtaa hai
tumhaare bulaane ko

tumhaari mohabbat mein, khoyi huyi hoon, khoyi huyi hoon
tumhaari mohabbat mein, khoyi huyi hoon, khoyi huyi hoon
tumhen ye bulaane ko, ji chaahtaa hai, ji chaahtaa hai
tumhaare bulaane ko

ye ji chaahtaa hai ke tumhaari bhi sun loon, tumhaari bhi sun loon
ye ji chaahtaa hai ke tumhaari bhi sun loon, tumhaari bhi sun loon
khud apni sunaane ko, ji chaahataa hai, ji chaahataa hai
muqaddar banaane ko ji chaahtaa hai, ji chaahataa hai
tumhaare bulaane ko

I see some shade of Noor Jehan style in Lata’s this song…..specially ‘jee chahata hai..’

Kamath ji,
This is one of my favourite songs of Lata.
In the initial years,Lata WAS influenced by Noorjehan,no doubt.NJ had just left India for Pakistan and composers too were looking for her replacement.May be,they themselves suggested Lata to do it her way,may be not.
However,Composers like C.Ramchandra (who did not use NJ much himself) and Naushad showed faith in Lata’s talents and insisted her to follow her own style, without any inflence.Actually,Lata came completely out of the shadow only after BARSAT songs,as SJ’s style was totally different-and Lata too rediscovered herself newly.
Then on it was Lata only as Lata !

Mine too.
I agree that Lata was her own after Barsat.
