Dil ke tukde tukde karke muskuraa ke chal diye

Posted on: July 14, 2009

“Dada” (1978) was a B grade movie which was a remake of a 1960s C grade movie called “Faisla”.

“Faisla” which had Jagdeep as hero and Sheikh Mukhtaar in a key role, had been forgotten like most C grade movies, and this movie “Dada” should have gone the same way. But then something clicked, and this movie went on to become a hit.

The things that clicked with the public was the role played by Pallavi Joshi, now known as a TV anchor who was a small kid at that time. In this movie, she plays a young blind girl, whose father (Satyen Kappoo) gets stabbed to death. The murderer, Amjad Khan, incidentally has a voice identical to Satyen Kappoo. In the movie,Pallavi Joshi, hearing the voice of Amjad Khan, mistakes him for her father. In the rest of the movie, the hardened criminal undergoes a change of heart thanks to that young girl.

It is a moving tale that met with the approval of the movie goers.

Now where do Vinod Mehra and Bindiya Goswami, the hero and heroine of this movie fit in? As lead actors, their activities should form the main plot and other activities should be the side plot, but here the hero- heroine are virtually redundant and their activity in fact is the romantic side plot (RSP) for the movie. It is a movie that was carried entirely by Amjad Khan.

The RSP involving the hero-heroine yielded a song that became surprisingly popular. This song was written by Kulwant Jaani and it was composed by Usha Khanna. Sung by Yesudas, this song “dil ke tukde tukde karke muskuraake chal diye” has gone on to become a memorable song.

So here is this surprise hit song from a surprise hit movie of 1978.

Song-Dil ke tukde tukde karke muskuraake chal diye (Dada) (1978) Singer-Yesudas , Lyrics- Kulwant Jaani, MD-Usha Khanna

Lyrics

dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye
dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye
jaate jaate ye to bataa jaa
ham jiyenge kiske liye
dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye
dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye

chaand bhi hogaa, taare bhi honge
door chaman mein pyaare bhi honge
lekin hamaaraa dil na lagegaa
bheegegi jab jab raat suhaani
aag lagaayegi rut mastaani
tu hi bataa koyi kaise jiyegaa
dil ke maaron ko dil ke maalik
thokar lagaa ke chal diye
dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye
jaate jaate ye to bataa jaa
ham jiyenge kiske liye
dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye

roothe rahenge aap jo hamse
mar jaayenge ham bhi kasam se
sunle haath chhudaane se pahle
jaan hamaari naam pe teri
jaayegi ik din dilbar mere
soch samajh le jaane se pahle
yoon agar tum dil ki tamannaa
ko mitaake chal diye
dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye
jaate jaate ye to bataa jaa
ham jiyenge kiske liye
dil ke tukde tukde karke
muskuraake chal diye

1st stanza, 2nd line- it should be
“phool chaman mein pyaare bhi honge”

Word should be phool instead of door.
