Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Jogi o jogi arre pyaar mein kyaa hogaa

Posted on: August 1, 2009

Kishore Kumar and R D Burman absolutely lorded over Bollywood music scene in late 1960s and early 1970s. Most of their creations , irrespective of the quality of the movie, were outstanding.

“Laakhon mein Ek” (1971) had music by R D Burman. The movie itself was no great shakes, but the movie had music by R D Burman. The song that I am posting here was extremely popular and then everyone forgot about this song as the movie got forgotten.

When I stumbled upon this song again a few days back, it was like stumbling upon an acquaintance after nearly four decades. Old memories have been refreshed, and it is no nice to be able to listen to this song again. It is nicer still, since I am now able to watch the video of this song as well. The song is written by Anand Bakshi and it is picturised on Mehmood and Radha (South).

Song-Jogi o jogi arre pyaar me kyaa hogaa (Laakhon mein ek) (1971) Singers-Lata, Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD- R D Burman

Lyrics

jogi o jogi arre pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
haay re jogi o jogi pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
har din suhaanaa hogaa
achcha
har raat suhaani hogi
jogi o jogi pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
haay re
jogi o jogi pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
har din suhaanaa hogaa har raat suhaani hogi

ban jaayegi raaten phir sapnon ki baaraaten
guzregaa ab jeewan bas karte prem ki baaten
hamse karo tum ye waadaa waadaa to naa tod dogi
jogi o jogi arre pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
haay re jogi o jogi pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
har din suhaanaa hogaa har raat suhaani hogi

chandaa-taare soye ye mast nazaare soye
raat kaa jaadu chhaayaa ham tum bin saare soye
kaise hamen neend aaye ham donon hain dil ke rogi
jogi o jogi arre pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
haay re jogi o jogi pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
har din suhaanaa hogaa har raat suhaani hogi

phoolon ki paayal ho aur taaron kaa jhoomar ho
prem-nagar mein sainyaa ai kaash hamaaraa ghar ho
ghar ki zaroorat nahin hai tum mere dil mein rahogi
jogi o jogi arre pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
haay re jogi o jogi pyaar mein kyaa hogaa
har din suhaanaa hogaa
sachh
har raat suhaani hogi

This song brings back a lot of memories for me too.
This movie had some other songs also that were quite popular at that time.

Could not view this song, there was another very popular song, chanada o chanda, kisne churayee, terimeri neendiya…

sorry saw the song…

Chanda o chanda from this film is always there in memories and as mentioned by Atul ji & Raja ji it do takes us back to down memory lane and to the golden days of childhood.
But this song has its significance in its picturisation where the speed of the sound was adjusted to suit the slow motion picturisation of this song. There was a programme few years back on Star Gold (i think it was ‘beete hue din?) where in Javed Akhtar saab use to discuss about some of the land mark & milestone Hindi films and in one such episode he had narrated about this song. There is lot of hard work involved in the picturisation of this song. And the song is beautiful too. One of my favorite songs!!! Kishore da and Mehmood – RDB !! Great team together!!
