Deewaana huaa baadal saawan ki ghataa chhaayi

Posted on: August 12, 2009

All these days, I thought that I had posted most songs of “Kashmir Ki Kali” (1964) in this blog. It turns out that I was mistaken. So these days I have decided to post the missing songs of this movie.

Here is the wonderful boat song from this movie. “Deewaana huaa baadal” is sung with characteristic enthusiasm by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle, who used to be the standard playback singers for O P Nayyar. S H Bihari, the lyricist also used to be a standard lyricist for O P Nayyar.

Together they created great songs in this movie.

The song was picturised on Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore on the Dal lake of Kashmir. Sharmila Tagore was making her debut in Bollywood with this movie.

Shammi Kapoor movies tended to have music by Shankar Jaikishan, but here was a Shammi Kapoor movie where O P Nayyar stepped in, and what amazing music he created for this movie. Just awesome !

This song is not only a boat song, a romantic song, a feel good song etc, it is also a song for nostalgia buffs. Yes, those were the days when Dal lake used to be a big attraction for Bollywood movie makers.

Song-Deewaana huaa baadal saawan ki ghataa chhaayi (Kashmir Ki Kali) (1964) Singers-Rafi ,Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-S H Bihari, MD-O P Nayyar

Lyrics

o ho ho , o ho ho o, aa haa haa
hmm hmm aa haa haa
ye dekhke dil jhoomaa, li pyaar ne angdaayi
deewaanaa huaa baadal
saawan ki ghataa chhaayi
ye dekh ke dil jhoomaa, li pyaar ne angdaayi
deewaanaa huaa baadal

aisi to meri taqdeer na thi
tumsaa jo koyi mahboob mile
dil aaj khushi se paagal hai
dil aaj khushi se paagal hai
ai jaanewafaa tum khoob mile
ai jaanewafaa tum khoob mile
dil kyun naa bane paagal,
kyaa tumne adaa paayi
ye dekhke dil jhoomaa, li pyaar ne angdaayi
deewanaa huaa baadal

jab tumse nazar takraayi sanam
jazbaat kaa ik toofaan uthaa
tinke ki tarah main bah nikli
tinke ki tarah main bah nikli
sailaab mere roke na rukaa
sailaab mere roke na rukaa
jeewan mein machi halchal
aur bajne lagi shahnaayi
ye dekhke dil jhoomaa, li pyaar ne angdaayi
deewanaa huaa baadal

hai aaj naye armaanon se, aabaad mere dil ki nagri
barson se khizaan kaa mausam thaa
barson se khizaan kaa mausam thaa
veeraan badi duniyaa thi meri
veeraan badi duniyaa thi meri
haathon mein teraa aanchal, aayaa ke bahaar aayi
ye dekhke dil jhoomaa, li pyaar ne angdaayi

deewaanaa huaa baadal, saawan ki ghataa chhaayi
ye dekhke dil jhoomaa, li pyaar ne angdaayi
deewaanaa huaa baadal, saawan ki ghataa chhaayi
ye dekhke dil jhoomaa, li pyaar ne angdaayi,
deewaanaa huaa baadal
