Uljhan suljhe na rastaa soojhe naa

Posted on: December 26, 2009

It is not always that one is aware of the details of the songs that one hears. Often one is just aware of the song and that is all.

This song “uljhan suljhe na” is one such song that I have heard in the past. I can identify the singer as Asha Bhonsle. That is all I knew about this song. Yesterday I found out the other details about this song.

Here is how I found out about the other details of this song. I was watching TV when this song appeared. I found that this song was a piano song, where Zeenat Aman sits at the piano and sings the song. From the music I tried to guess the music director. I guessed Ravi, but I was not sure. Then I saw that the other actor in the picturisation was Sanjay Khan. That was of little help. Then I saw that Danny in a goatee was also there. And that clinched it. I knew that this song had to be from “Dhundh ” (1973) where Danny appears in this trademark goatee. Now the only thing left to be discovered was the lyricist. I had earlier posted a song from this movie and there the lyricist was Sahir Ludhianvi. So Sahir Ludhianvi it was. Wow ! What a Sherlock Holmesian way of finding out the details of this song ! I patted myself on the back when I found that my guesswork was correct. 😉

Song-Uljhan suljhe na rastaa soojhe naa (Dhundh) (1973) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD-Ravi

Lyrics

uljhan suljhe na rasta soojhe naa
jaaun kahaan main jaaun kahaan
uljhan suljhe na rasta soojhe naa
jaaun kahaan main jaaun kahaan

mere dil ka andhera huaa aur ghaneraa
kuchh samajh na paaun kyaa hona hai mera
mere dil ka andhera huaa aur ghaneraa
kuchh samajh na paaun kyaa hona hai mera
khadi do raahe par ye poochhoon ghabraa kar
khadi do raahe par ye poochoon ghabraa kar
jaaun kahaan mainy jaaun kahaan
uljhan suljhe na rasta soojhe naa
jaaun kahaan mainy jaaun kahaan

jo saans bhi aaye tan cheer ke jaaye
is haal mein koyi kis tarah nibhaaye
jo saans bhi aaye tan cheer ke jaaye
is haal mein koyi kis tarah nibhaaye
na marna raas aaya na jeena man bhaaya
na marna raas aaya na jeena man bhaaya
jaaun kahaan main jaaun kahaan
uljhan suljhe na rasta soojhe naa
jaaun kahaan main jaaun kahaan

rut gham ki tale na
koi aas fale naa
taqdeer ke aaga
meri ek chale na
rut gham ki tale na
koi aas fale naa
taqdeer ke aaga
meri ek chale na
bahut kin tadbeeren
na tootin zanjeeren
bahut kin tadbeeren
na tootin zanjeeren
jaaun kahaan main jaaun kahaan
uljhan suljhe na rasta soojhe naa
jaaun kahaan main jaaun kahaan

Nice song from great Sahir/Ravi.

And, amazing work from our “Sherlock Holme” 🙂

Title song from same movie is also very nice “sansaar ki har shai ka”. Good movie from BR Chopra (easiest way to find MD/Lyrics). Majority of BR movie had Sahir/Ravi combo. Btw, Naveen Nischal was also in the movie.

@ Atul ji – like that ‘Sherlock Holmesian’ way 🙂
I like this song very much. I think all its ‘ingredients’ – its lyrics, the piano, the singing, the picturisation, the artists involved (specially Zeenat Amaan in those ‘costumes’), Sanjay Khan with cigar, and Danny on the wheelchair – and above all Ravi ji’s music…

One of the best Ravi – Asha combo. I bought dvd of this movie few years back during my visit to India, but was defective. 😦 (Hiring a detective for this defective piece wasn’t worth 😉 ) Desperate I was for this song and Sansaar ki har shai ka….. I bought another one online. 🙂
