Abhi kamsin ho naadaan ho jaane jaanaa

Posted on: May 22, 2010

“Aaya Toofaan” (1964) was a movie starring Dara Singh, Helen and others. This movie had an upcoming music director duo of Laxmikant Pyarelal . This movie may have been forgotten with time, but Laxmikant Pyarelal’s music from this movie lives on.

Here is a superb song from this movie. It is sung by Rafi. Asad Bhopali is the lyricist. I am not familiar with the male actor and the two female dancers on whom this song is picturised, but I am sure that my knowledgeable readers can help me identify them, as always.

Farmaish for this song was given by Lalitha, and I am pleased that I am able to post this song within an hour of getting her farmaish. This is such a delightful song to listen to that I am going to listen to this song again.

Song-Abhi kamsin ho nadaan ho jaane jaanaa (Aaya Toofaan) (1964) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Asad Bhopali, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa
kyaa karogi meraa dil,
tod dogi meraa dil
pahle seekho dil lagaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa
kyaa karogi meraa dil,
tod dogi meraa dil
pahle seekho dil lagaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa

bahut haseen ho thahro,
shabaab aane do
shareer aankhon mein sharma-o-hijaab aane do
tumhaare saamne phir beshumaar dil honge
dil honge
jahaan bhi jaaogi
sajde hazaar dil honge
aane waalaa hai,
haan,
aane waalaa hai ab
aisaa qaatil zamaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa
kyaa karogi meraa dil,
tod dogi meraa dil
pahle seekho dil lagaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa

gunaah thahregaa sabse nazar milaanaa bhi
banegaa jurm kisi din,
ye muskuraanaa bhi
kabhi jo dil ki kasak
dard banke ubharegi
ubharegi
tadap tadap ke shab-e-intazaar guzaregi
koyi poochhegaa,
haan,
koyi poochhegaa jab
kyaa karogi bahaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa
kyaa karogi meraa dil,
tod dogi meraa dil
pahle seekho dil lagaanaa
abhi kamsin ho,
naadaan ho jaane jaanaa

Thanks, Atul, for playing this wonderful song! So that was Dara Singh? I thought it was Ajit! I have always imagined this song being sung by someone like Rajendra Kumar or Dharmendra to a Saira Banu or Asha Parekh, out in the open in Kashmir or some such place, and the whole scene surprised me. I remember this song very well from my younger days, so it must have been very popular in those days. Thanks again.

The actor is neither Ajit nor Dara Singh. It is someone lesser known.

I agree that this song would suit a Rajendra Kumar and Dharmendra more, and would suit Shammi Kapoor even more so.

In this song are famous couple duo Manohar deepak-a very poular punjabi folk dancer, other dancer is his wife famous dancer Madhumati.Third one is known face but I dont remember her name.Sitting in the song is Anwar Hussain and Indra Billi,a famous
punjabi actress.

Another dancer`s name is ARUNA.

She is there alongwith Padma khanna in Yash chopra`s movie “Daag”(1973)-in the dance sequence of “Ni main yaar manaanaani, chaahe log bol boliyaan bole”.

She can be spotted among co-dancers along with Suchitra sen in Bambai Ka Babu(1960-In the song sequence of “Dekhne mein bhola hai, dil ka salaunaa”)

She can also be spotted in Paraya Dhan(1971)Holi song “Holi re holi, rangon ki toli, mukh na chuppa raani saamne aa”alongwith Omprakash,chinoo,jayashree.t. & others(Asha,Mannadey, chorus)

another lady sitting on the throne is PADMA RANI,she later on acted in DIL as Aamir Khan`s mother.
She acted in Kanyadaan`(68)Sanghursh(`68)Vishwas(`69-against Rajendranath).

I think She is famous t.v.actress Ketki Dave`s Mother.

Like

Ketki Dave’s mother is Sarita Joshi, the famous theater and TV personality.
By the way, I find a striking facial resemblance between Padma Rani and Sarita Joshi. I guess, they are sisters.

Prakashji,
Sadanandji is on the dot. Ketki Dave’s mother is Sarita Joshi (maiden Khatau). She was married to famous Gujarati stage artist, Late Pravin Joshi. She was also in Kanyadaan as Asha Parekh’s saheli. She does look alike Padma Rani. BTW Ketki Dave was in Karan Johar’s Kal Ho Na Ho as Saif’s mother.

Doesn’t this song remind of Tum Kamsin Ho, from Aye Milan Ki Bela?

Sorry, I am confused about the identities of two ladies.
(while rechecking my knowledge with the imdb) , they have credited Padma rani`s name as Asha Parekh`s village freind in KANYAADAAN, eventhough in the credit sequences of the movie kanyadaan, they have credited her name as sarita joshi/khatau.

By the way Kethki dave`s daughter Purbi Joshi also made her big screen debut with Himesh Reshammiya in his 2011 movie DAMADAMM!(Am I right?)(eventhough she is a famous host in a T.v.Comedy show)

Purbi Joshi is the sister of Ketki Dave

Like

Yes, Purbi Joshi is in Damadamm. Like Sadanandji has said, she is the younger sister of Ketaki Dave (maiden Joshi- married to Rasik Dave, Nandbaba of TV serial Mahabharat).
