There have been several movies called “Kangan”. I just realised that I have not posted any songs from any of these movies. So here is a song from a C grade movie called “Kangan” (1959).
This song is sung by Rafi and Geeta Dutt. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist and Chitragupta composed the music. The song is picturised on Bhagwaan and Shammi. This Shammi is not our Shammi Kapoor. She is the Shammi who we know as the matronly looking Shammi aunty. Like everyone else, people like Ashok Kumar and Shammi too used to be young once upon a time, though it is difficult to believe that, since they apparently looked old almost right from the time they were born. Here too, Shammi looks as matronly as ever.
The song is quite rare, and I listened to it for the first time only just now. What cute lyrics, and how beautifully the words have been rendered by Rafi and Geeta Dutt under the composition of Chitragupta.
Just as the listener is warming up, the song abruptly ends. Yes, the song is incomplete in the video. But anything is better than nothing, and this rare video of a rare song is worth listening to and watching.
