Khadaa hoon der se ummeedwaar dekh to le

Posted on: July 18, 2010

I have posted several songs from “Alif Laila” (1953) in this blog. Here is the song from this movie which gets played as the movie is coming to a close. I categorise such songs as “movie ending songs” and we often have some really memorable songs like that.

This song is sung by Talat Mehmood and lip synced by Vijay Kumar. The picturisation shows his beloved Asha Mathur on the deathbed, and the hero, in Arabian nights fashion, is not allowed anywhere near the heroine and so he has to sing his song from a distance. The picturisation also show Pran and Nimmi.

The lyrics are masterful which capture the situations superbly. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist after all ! Shyam Sundar is the music director.

So here is this nice song from a long forgotten movie.

song-Khadaa hoon der se ummeedwaar dekh to le (Alif Laila) (1953) Singer-Talat Mehmood, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD-Shyam Sundar

Lyrics

ye bebasi ye mera haal e zaar
dekh to le
khadaa hoon der se ummeedwaar
dekh to le
khadaa hoon der se ummeedwaar
dekh to le

khizaan ne loot liyaa
khizaan ne loot liyaa
dil ki aarzoo ka chaman
kahaan hai ae meri khoyi bahaar
dekh to le
kahaan hai ae meri khoyi bahaar
dekh to le
khadaa hoon der se ummeedwaar
dekh to le

basi rahe tere mehlon ki chaar-deewaari
na aa sake to naa aa
ek baar dekh to le
na aa sake to naa aa
ek baar dekh to le
khadaa hoon der se ummeedwaar
dekh to le

sahar kareeb hai
aur shamaa bujhne waali hai
tadap rahaa hai tera beqaraar
dekh to le
tadap rahaa hai tera beqaraar
dekh to le
khadaa hoon der se ummeedwaar
dekh to le
