She is very pretty pretty pretty Priyaa
Posted on: July 23, 2010
“Priyaa” (1970) is a movie that is not remembered much today, but this movie had a couple of songs that were quite popular those days. I remember those songs with fondness and so do others who lived in those days.
In fact Raja gave the farmaish for the songs of this movie long back. I have posted one of these songs (Na sun sun sun buraa (Priyaa) ) recently. Here is another song from this movie which was quite popular, especially among pre teen kids like Raja and yours truly.
This song is sung by unknown singers like Anand, Prayag, Jerry Adolph etc and it is picturised on actors who were hen unknon and they continue to be unknown even now. From the picturisation, one can identify Tanuja and may be Jalal Agha, but others are mostly unknown figures. Perhaps some of the readers may be able to identify them.
This song, which is one of the few Hindi songs with Hinglish words is written by Qamar Jalalabadi. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.
Here is this much loved and much hummed song from my ( and Raja’s) formative days. The lyrics of this song may not have posed much challenge to the lyricist who in the past had given as a masterpiece in the form of Din hai suhaana aaj pahli taarikh hai(Pahli taarikh) (1954).

It is a fun song–I can see why pre teens and teens would have liked it.
I love the picturization. The song itself, I’ve heard it before and it is not something I’d remember.

one of the actors was manik dutta i think; the one who shows his hair for “Kale Kale Baal” and the other one who is shown romancing a pole at the start was a gujarati comedienne actor whom i last saw in ShahRukh Khan’s Baadshah as Twinkle Khanna’s uncle. will look up his name. he used to also come in the TV serial “Nukkad”

Agree with the song.. Priya (Tanuja) is very pretty!
I think Kumud Tripathi is in this scene as one of the dancing guys.

Wow. My day is made today with this song. Love it, love it, love it. 🙂
This is indeed one of the songs I remember from my early days. And also one of the songs I searched on the net when youtube came along. All I remembered was “pretty pretty Priya”. For a long time, I could not find anything :(, then somebody posted just the audio (which already had me thrilled). Then somebody posted the video – and it took me to a different level of love for this song. I love Tanuja anyway, and the picturisation is so cute that it blew my mind off.
Apart from Jalal Agha and Tanuja, there is of course Sanjeev Kumar to be seen (not dancing) towards the end of the clip. I cannot identify the others though the one at around 0:48 looks very familiar. Maybe another reader here can identify him.
Thanks for posting this, Atul and making my day. 🙂
