Ye waadaa karen jahaan bhi rahen

Posted on: August 8, 2010

When one talks of “Dil Bhi Tera Ham bhi Tere” (1960), then only one song comes to the mind of most people and that song is Mujhko iss raat ki tanhaayi me aawaaz na do. But this movie had other songs in it too.

Here is another song from this movie. This song is a duet sung by Mukesh and Lata. This song is picturised on Dharmendra (who was making his debut in this movie) and Kumkum. Kanhaiya Lal Pardesi is the lyricist and Kalyanji Anandji composed the music.

I love the picturisation of this song. This song shows Dharmendra taking his girl friend Kumkum on his scooter to various places. They go to a beach, and sing one stanza of the song, then again drive on the trusted scooter to a garden, and sing another stanza, this time running around trees in the Bollywood recommended method of singing a romantic song. And then they go to yet another place to sing the next stanza…you got the idea.

So here is this lovely scooter song, cum beach song, cum running around the trees song from “Dil Bhi Tera Ham Bhi Tere” (1960).

Song-Ye waadaa karen jahaan bhi rahen (Dil Bhi Tera Ham Bhi Tere) (1960) Singers-Mukesh, Lata,Lyrics-Kanhaiyya Lal Pardesi, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen
tum hamaare raho
ham tumhaare rahen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen
tum hamaare raho
ham tumhaare rahen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen

kitnaa haseen ye
sapnaa hai meraa
main bhi hoon teri
dil bhi hai teraa
kitnaa haseen ye
sapnaa hai meraa
main bhi hoon teri
dil bhi hai teraa
dil ko milaa hai
dil kaa sahaaraa
saath na choote
ab ye hamaaraa
muskuraate qadam ham milaa ke chalen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen
tum hamaare raho
ham tumhaare rahen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen

gul hain hazaaron
iss gulsitaan mein
tujhsaa na koyi
saare jahaan mein
gul hain hazaaron
iss gulsitaan mein
tujhsaa na koyi
saare jahaan mein
tumse mohabbat meri huyi hai
tum jo mile ho duniyaa mili hai
ham zamaane ki nazren bachaa ke chalen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen
tum hamaare raho
ham tumhaare rahen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen
ye waadaa karen
jahaan bhi rahen
aaa aaa aaa aaa
aaa aaa aaa aaa

Ahhh Dharam so so frisky. He was just 24 and notice how awkward. I love this song.

The lyrics, the music and the singers combine to make an enticing song! Everyone was so young in 1960! The young dashing Dharmendra and the lovely Kum Kum made a wonderful pair in this movie. That year had a charm of its own. Kalyanji Anandji had started making a name for themselves, straight from their “kholi” at Mangal Wadi in South Bombay!
