Yaar chulbulaa hai

I have posted several songs from “Dil Deke Dekho” (1959) and still it appears to me that this movie has an endless supply of wonderful songs in it.
This movie was the first venture of Nassir Hussain as a movie producer. Like himself, the heroine of this movie was a newcomer and the lady music director of the movie was a newcomer too. But all these debutants, as well as Shammi Kapoor (then finding his feet in Bollywood) and the experienced singers (Asha Bhonsle, Lata) and the lyricist (Majrooh Sultanpuri) teamed up to create a movie that was a blockbuster in more ways than one and it launched the careers of all the debutants in their chosen fields.
Here is this wonderful song “yaar chulbulaa hai” from this movie. It is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle and picturised on Shammi Kapoor, Asha Parekh and others. Despite the passage of more than half a century, this son sounds as fresh as a song could ever sound like.

a small bit of info. this movie had 18 songs. Shammi Kapoor said it yesterday on “Times Now TV”
