Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Husn e jaanaa idhar aa

Posted on: August 31, 2010

I have posted several songs from “Saathi” (1968) but even I was not aware of that the song under discussion was from this movie.

I was vaguely familiar with this song “husn e jaanaa idhar aa”. So vague was my familiarity with this song that I was only familiar with its tune. I was not even aware of the lyrics.

Now I know that this song is a sentimental song picturised on Rajendra Kumar who is seen takking care of an ailing Vyjyanti Mala. It is an archtypical dard bhara naghma sung by Mukesh with his customary Midas touch.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Naushad composed the music. Naushad, who usually paired with Shakeel Badayuni in bulk of his song was teaming up with Majrooh Sultanpuri after 20 years !

Here is this superb song from “Saathi” (1968).

song-Husn e jaana idhar aa (Saathi) (1968) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Naushad

Husn e jaana idhar aa
aayinaa hoon main tera
husn e jaana idhar aa
aayinaa hoon main tera
main sanwaaroonga tujhe
saare gham de de mujhe
bheegi palken na jhukaa
aayinaa hoon main tera

kitne hi daagh uthaaye tu ne
mere din raat sajaaye tu ne
choom loon aa main teri palkon ko
de doon ye umar teri zulfon ko
leke aankhon ke diye
muskuraa mere liye
meri tasweer e wafa
aayina hoon main tera

teri chaahat hai ibaadat meri
dekhta rahtaa hoon soorat teri
ghar tere dam se hai mandir mera
tu hai devi main pujaari tera
sajde sau bar karoon
aa tujhe pyar karoon
meri aaghosh mein aa
aayina hoon main tera
main sanwaaroonga tujhe
saare gham de de mujhe
bheegi palken na jhukaa
aayinaa hoon main tera
husn e jaana idhar aa
aayinaa hoon main tera

It is one of my favorites from this movie. It makes me cry every time I listen to it. Saathi was one very beautiful and emotional movie. Thanks for posting this one, Atul.

This according to me is one of the best songs of Mukesh. Thanks for posting this super one!

Every song of Mukesh sounds like one of his best. I have posted 250 Mukesh songs so far and every song sounds like that to me.
