Dil aawaaraa kare nazaaraa

What happens when a producer wants to remake a James Bond kind of movie in Hindi but his finances only allow him the luxury of making a C grade movie ? He comes up with a movie called “Ushaad 420” (1969).
The movie is black and white, which is only to be expected from a financially strapped movie maker. Sudhir (of all people) plays James Bond in this movie ! This shows that the movie maker was strapped in other areas too.
In this movie, our dashing hero is found hobnobbing with a bevy of bikini clad ladies on a beach and also driving cars like what a wanna be James Bond is supposed to do.
In addition, he does something which no James Bond ever did. He sings songs !
Here is a song from “Ustaad” (1969). It is sung by Rafi. Asad Bhopali is the lyricist and N Datta composed the music.
I had never heard this song before.I had never heard about this movie either. This song goes on to show that Rafi has sung songs for so many known, lesser known, unknown and unexpected actors. This is one of his songs sung for an obscure actor for an obscure movie.
This song is a decent song to listen to, once we listen to this song a few times.

hullo atul
but if i am not mistaken Sudhir was the male actor opposite a debutant Bindu in the movie “Anpadh” where she plays Mala Sinha’s daughter when she sings the semi classical “Jiya Le Gayo Ji Mora Saawariya”. even this was surprising (Bindu singing classical) considering the image she went on to attain later in her career.
