Jhim jhim jhim jhim badarwaa barse

Posted on: February 4, 2011

I have discussed one song from “Taangaawaali” (1955) in the past. Here is another song from this movie.

This song is a rain song, going by the lyrics. From the lyrics, it is seen that it is the rainy season. It is raining incessantly and the lady is missing her beloved. She longs for him to come back to her.

This song is sung by Lata. Seeing that this movie had Shammi Kapoor and Anita Guha in lead roles, I guess that this song is picturised on Anita Guha. It is a lovely song to listen to.

Prem Dhawan is the lyricist. Salil Chaudhary composed the music.

Curiously, Salil Chaudhary also composed a song in “Parivaar” (1956) which had similar opening line, viz Jhir jhir jhir jhir badarwaa barse o kaare kaare . The lyricist though was different, viz Shailendra in that case. In fact, both these songs have their Bangla versions too, also composed by Salil Chaudhary.

Song-Jhim jhim jhim jhim badarwa barse (Taangaawaali) (1955) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Salil Chaudhary

Lyrics

jhim jhim jhim jhim badarwa barse
naina more tarse
aaja aaja re ghar more piyaa
san san san san hawaa dole
ghoonghat mora kholey
laage na jiyaa
jhim jhim jhim jhim badarwa barse
naina more tarse
aaja aaja re ghar more piyaa
san san san san hawaa dole
ghoonghat mora kholey
laage na jiyaa

aaja ke dwaar khadi khadi
raah teri dekhoon ghadi ghadi
aaja ke dwaar khadi khadi
raah teri dekhoon ghadi ghadi
tarsaaye saawan ki jhadi
phir bhi naa soona jag saanwariyaa
jhim jhim jhim jhim badarwa barse
naina more tarse
aaja aaja re ghar more piyaa
san san san san hawaa dole
ghoonghat mora kholey
laage na jiyaa

aao jo ghar more piyaa
kaanon mein kuch samjhaaun
man mein hai baat kuchh aisi
kahte huye sharmaaun
aao jo ghar more piyaa
kaanon mein kuch samjhaaun
man mein hai baat kuchh aisi
kahte huye sharmaaun
chhoti si tasweer tori
phirti hai ankhiyon mein mori
chhoti si tasweer tori
phirti hai ankhiyon mein mori
kaanon mein goonj rahi lori
kya kya maine sapne sajaaye rasiyaa
jhim jhim jhim jhim badarwa barse
naina more tarse
aaja aaja re ghar more piyaa
san san san san hawaa dole
ghoonghat mora kholey
laage na jiyaa
