Here is a song that I had never heard before. Of course there is nothing new in that. There are so many songs that I have never heard before.
This song is sung by Lata. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and Ghulam Mohammad is the music director.
I wondered who the pretty actress in the picturisation was and I thought of asking my readers to identify her. Then it struck me. She was Madhubala, a very young one at that ! I recognised her in the nick of time, else I would have been taken to task by Peevesie’s mom for my inability to recognise Madhubala, of all the people. Phew ! I was saved by the skin of the teeth ! 🙂

This song bears uncanny resemblance to Chale dil ki duniya jo barbaad kar ke sung again by Suraiya from the film Dard (1947) composed by Naushad. Even the opening recitation is similar style. Did the fact that Ghulam Mohammad was assistant to Naushad have something to do with it?
