Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Bolo bolo re Bhagwaan

Posted on: February 27, 2011

“Sanam” (1951) is a movie starring Dev Anand, Suraiyya,Meena Kumari,K N Singh,Gope,Pratima Devi,Jillo etc in it. This movie has some nice and interesting songs in it.I have already discussed as many as four songs from this movie.

This song also has a Bhajan which gets played at different places in this movie as and when the ladies in the movies seek divine interventions to overcome their woes. The song is sung by Suraiyya, Shamshad Begam and Amirbai Karnataki and it is lip synced by Suraiyya (for herself), Meena Kumari (in Shamshad Begam’s voice) and a lady who could be either Jillo or Pratima Devi (in Amirbai Karnataki’s voice). Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist and music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.

I request my knowledgeable readers to help identify the actors, especially the elder lady on whom this song is picturised.
