Man mor huaa matwaalaa

Posted on: February 28, 2011

“Afsar”(1950) is a movie that starred the hot pair of Suraiyya and Dev Anand. This movie was a box office hit and a musical hit as well.

I just noticed that I have discussed just one song from this movie in this past. This movie has some delighful songs in it and I need to cover more songs from this movie.

Here is a song from this movie. It is sung by Suraiyya and obviously it was picturised on her as well. The lyrics by Pt Narendra Sharma are in poetic Hindi, the kind that I read in my school days in my Hindi classes, and I firmly believe now that these words are far more expressive and effective in conveying romantic feelings that the usual words that are usually used in the Hindi movie songs.

S D Burman is the music director and as is usual with his music, this music touches the heart strings of the listeners.

Song-Man mor huaa matwaalaa (Afsar) (1950) Singer-Suraiyya, Lyrics-Pt. Narendra Sharma, MD-S D Burman

man mor
man mor huaa matwaalaa
kisne jaadu daalaa re
kisne jaadu daalaa
arre kisne jaadu daalaa
man mor

ghir ghir aayi
ghir ghir aayi
preet badariyaa
bole praan-papeehaa piyaa piyaa piyaa
jiyaa sharmaaye
he he he
jiyaa sharmaaye
muskaayi armaanon ki jaimaalaa
matwaalaa huaa matwaalaa
kisne jaadu daalaa re
kisne jaadu daalaa
kisne jaadu daalaa
man mor

tum suhaag ho main suhaagini
suhaagini main suhaagini
tum sur ho
main madhur raagini
madhur raagini
main suhaaginii
tum suhaag ho
tum nas-nas ras ki phuhaar
main rom-rom madhushaalaa
matwaalaa huaa matwaalaa
kisne jaadu daalaa re
kisne jaadu daalaa re
kisne jaadu daalaa
man mor
