Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Mere sarkaar meri aahon ka asar dekh liyaa

Posted on: March 5, 2011

“Shikaar” (1968) is not to be confused with “Shikaari” (1963) though I always confuse between the two. The confusion is further compounded by the facts that both these movies have the same singers and they have sung some fantastic songs in both these movies.

Singers may be the same, but these two movies have different actors, lyricists and music directors, but still I have not yet learnt how to differentiate between the two movies. In short, “Shikaar” (1968) has Dharmendra and Asha Parekh, whereas “Shikaari” (1963) has Ajit and Raagini. Music of “Shikaar” (1968) is by Shankar Jaikishan , whereas G S Kohli is the music director of “Shikaari” (1963).

I have discussed four songs each from these movies. And I am not yet done with the music of these movies. I need to post many more songs from both these movies.

Here is another song from “Shikaar” (1968). This song, for a change is sung by two singers who have not sung any song in “Shikaari” (1963). Madenndra Kapoor and Krishna Kalle sing this song for Dharmendra and Asha Parekh.

This song is a teasing song where Dharmendra is demonstrating to Asha Jee how powerful his “aah ka asar” can be, and Asha jee is not impressed.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist.

The video of the sung ends abruptly, which is not what a music lover needs when listening to a nice song like this. I have also included an audio link of the song where one can listen to the full song.

Here is this nice teasing duet from “Shikaar” (1968).

Song-Mere sarkaar meri aahon ka asar dekh liyaa (Shikaar) (1968) Singer-Mahendra Kapoor, Krishna Kalle, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

Mere sarkaar meri aahon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa
mere sarkaar meri aahon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa
ruk gaye aap
wafaaon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa

pyaar sachchaa ho to
ye waqt bhi ruk jaataa hai
aasmaan laakh bhi oonchha rahe
jhuk jaataa hai
aapne dil ki duaaon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa
mere sarkaar meri aahon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa

aa gaye aap ke qadmon pe utar kar baadal
ban gayi mast ghataa aapke sar ka aanchal
aapne shokh fizaaon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa
mere sarkaar meri aahon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa

aap ke phool se chehre pe hansi bhi aayi
aaj sau rang liye dil mein khushi bhi aayi
aapne ishq ki raahon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa
mere sarkaar meri aahon ka asar dekh liyaa
haan asar dekh liyaa

This is an awesome song. Atulji, I wonder what made Shankar Jaikishan give this song to Mahendra Kapoor. From hindsight we can see that this song suits his voice and style of singing perfectly. These are the small little things that the music directors of the yesteryear’s practiced and that’s what makes their music so beautiful and immortal. Krishna Kalle also does a good job with the limited singing she is given in this song
