Hai isi ka naam zindagi naach ae dil

Posted on: April 4, 2011

India finally pulled it off. They won the world cup title by defeating Sri Lanka in the final at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 2nd of april 2011.

How does one celebrate it , if one wants to do it in 1970s style ? Easy, celebrate it by witnessing a Helen dance. That is what every small and big time heroes, villains and their hench persons would do in Hindi movies of those days.

Here is a Helen dance from “Naadaan” (1971). The song is sung by ASha Bhonsle. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist and the 1960s style “western” music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.

Listening to this song and watching the picturisation makes for good old fashioned fun, which is ideal for celebrationg Indian win in world cup 2011 the old fashioned way. Cheers !

Song-hai isi ka naam zindagi naach ae dil (Nadaan) (1971) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil

tu jahaan bhi chal
hansta gaataa chal
zindagi ki dhun gungunaataa chal
har qadam pe tu sun muskuraata chal
ik haseenaa bhi tu sunaataa chal
ho ho aa
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil

masti lutaaye jaa
duniya pe chhaye jaa
jaaye jidhar bhi tu
rang jamaaye jaa
apni nazar se tu ho pardaa hataaye jaa
apni adaa ka tu ho jalwaa dikhaaye jaa
aaa
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil

koi ho mausam
koi ho aalam
zinda rah jaayegi teri chhamaacham
phir na sataayegaa koi tujhe gham
dhoom machaale tu o mere hamdam
ho
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
gaa ae dil
hai isi ka naam zindagi
naach ae dil
