When Hindi movie music directors wanted to create songs of a particular mood, they would explain the situation to the lyricist and he would write a song for the occassion. Then music director would compose the music and get the song recorded.
I find it amazing how they managed to create so many great and different songs for the same mood. Suppose it was needed to create a happy song for the heroine. Then what would be the creating process. There would already be so many great songs on this theme. The challenge was to create an original song with original lyrics and original idea. And amazingly, the lyricists would come up with original lyrics, which would then be composed into a great song.
When Laxmikant Pyarelal asked Majrooh Sultanpuri to create a happy song for the heroine for the movie called “Shaagird”(1967),he wrote this song, which was then sung with gusto by Lata and picturised nicely on Saira Bano. And this song became popular. In fact, this soung remains popular even to this day.
Yes, the methodology of creating an evergreen song on a topic with original lyrics was that simple !
