“Cobra Girl” (1963) is a quintessential B grade movie which is also known as Naag Kanya. Such movies were often considered infra dig by mainstream movie watchers and they would give such movies a miss.
Now, when we look back at such movies with the benefit of hindsight, and thanks to their wonderful review at memsaab’s story, we realise what the movie watchers of those days missed. When Sudhir sent me the lyrics for this rare gem,though without too many details about the movie, I tried to find the details of this song and the movie. Lo and behold, our beloved Memsaab had already done a review of this movie that contains all the details that one needs.
Now I know that this movie had Mahipal and Raagini in lead roles.
This particular song, which is a all female duet, is sung by Suman Kalyanpur and Mubarak Begam. It is picturised on Rani and Madhumati, who play Raagini’s sisters in this movie. It is a good idea to feature all the female dancers as sisters 🙂
