Ye daaman ab na chhootegaa kabhi

Posted on: July 22, 2011

Most music directors have their own musical style and if one listens to the music of a song, one can often identify the music director.

But sometimes music directors may copy the musical style of other more established music directors. We have seen music directors copying the musical styles of O P Nayyar,Shankar Jaikishan etc in the past.

Laxmikant Pyarelal, the up and coming music directors of 1960s had their own characteristic musical style which is easy to identify. However, even they have sometimes copied the musical styles of other music directors. For instance, they copied Madan Mohan’n music style in “Anita” (1967) and “Bahaaron Ki Manzil” (1968). They did that at the insistence of Lata.

Here is a Laxmikant Pyarelal composition from “Bahaaron Ki Manzil” (1967). This Madan Mohan style composition is sung by Lata. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.

The song is picturised as a radio song. The radio is fitted in a car and the car is being driven by Dharmendra with Meena Kumari seated in the passenger seat. Thus this song is a radio song as well as a car song.

Personally I always take such radio song picturisation with a pinch of salt. As soon as the radio is switched on, it is invariably perfectly tuned to the right station. and not just that, the timing is perfect too, and the song begins immediately as the radio is swiched on. 😀 And the voice is crystal clear, unlike noisy reception that ordinary folks used to get on their radio sets in those days.

Prakashchandra, who sent me the lyrics of this song, is not bothered about the radio reception being so clear. He is more concerned about the fact that Meena Kumari is not her usual sentimental self in this song. And she pales in looks department when seated beside Dharmendra. Well, look at the inner beauty, Prakashchandra jee, as wise sages would advice us. 😀

It is a lovely Laxmikant Pyarelal composition with a difference.

Song-Ye daaman ab na chhootegaa kabhi (Bahaaron Ki Manzil) (1968) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

ye daaman ab na chootega kabhi
chaahe khafaa tum ho
ye daaman ab na chootega kabhi
chaahe khafaa tum ho
kahaan jaaoon ke meri zindagi ka
aasraa tum ho
ye daaman ab na chootega kabhi
chaahe khafaa tum ho
kahaan jaaoon ke meri zindagi ka
aasraa tum ho
ye daaman ab na chootega

usi ne dukh diya
jisko pukaraa meri aahon ne
usi ne dukh diya
jisko pukaaraa meri aahon ne
unhee se zakhm paaye
jinko dekha in nigaahon ne
maseeha mere
ab in saare zakhmon ki dawa tum ho
kahaan jaaoon ke meri zindagi ka
aasraa tum ho
ye daaman ab na chootega

main sar se paanv tak
apne hi ashqon mein nahaayee hoon
main sar se paanv tak
apne hi ashqon mein nahaayee hoon
larazthe kaanpte dil se
tumhaare paas aayee hoon
chhupaa lo apni baahon mein
mere gam-aashnaa tum ho
kahaan jaaoon ke meri zindagi ka
aasra tum ho
ye daaman ab na chootega kabhi
chaahe khafaa tum ho
kahaan jaaoon ke meri zindagi ka
aasraa tum ho
ye daaman ab na chootega

Thank you for posting my favourite song,

Here onwards I will look into the inner beauty HEE HEE..HAA..HAA…
“aapki advice SAR AANKHON PAR”,hameshaa isi baat par main maar khatha hoon.

Further one typo mistake is there, you have mentioned Bahaaron ki manzil(1968) as BAHAARON KE SAPNE(1968)in the 5th line of 3rd paragraph.

with lot`s of regards
prakash
