Ashqon se likhee taqdeer meri

Posted on: July 29, 2011

“Daaman” (1951) is one of those obscure movie about which not much information is available. Songs of such movies tend to be just as obscure but one can often come across some nice songs in such movies.

Here is a lovely song from tis movie. Lata is the singer and music is composed by K Datta. Lyricist of this song is not available, but a few other songs of this movie were written by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, so I am assuming that he is the lyricist of this song too. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and its songs.

PS-The lyricist of this song is Rajinder Krishan. I thank Sudhir for this information.

Song-Ashqon se likhi taqdeer meri (Daaman) (1951) Singer- Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-K Datta

Lyrics

zaamaane se nahin
lekin hai kismat se gilaa baaqi
rahaa na zindagi mein koi
mazaa baaqi

ashqon se likhi taqdeer meri
ashqon se likhi taqdeer meri
taqdeer banaane waale ne
taqdeer banaane waale ne

kabhi aansoo kabhi aahen
ye kaisi zindagi dee hai
na shab na din ko
ye kaisi bekali dee hai
aa aa aa aa aa aa aa
gham ki tasweer banaayi hai
tasweer banaane waale ne
tasweer banaane waale ne

ye duniyaa bewafaa nikli
muqaddar bewafaa niklaa
samajh rakhaa thhaa
hamne kyaa
magar dekhaa to kyaa niklaa
aa aa aa aa aa aa

duniya ko khushi dee hai mujhko
dilgeer banaane waale ne
dilgeer banaane waale ne
ashqon se likhi taqdeer meri
taqdeer banaane waale ne
taqdeer banaane waale ne

K. Dataa well known Datta Korgoankar, a top composer from Maharashtra. He stop making the music after Noor Jahan left for Pakistan. Sadly because he Never considered making his future music with Lata.
Once O.P. Nayyar give him a gift of a harmonium, who never used Lata for his music.

Atul ji,

This song is written by Rajendra Krishan.

Six of the songs are written by Raja Mehndi Ali Khan.

5. Tu jo dil le ke mere peechhe peechhe aayegaa
6. Yun marta hoon tum pe jaise

Two songs are by Rajendra Krishan
7. Ye ruki ruki hawaaein, ye bujhe bujhe sitaare

derubala ji,
I am sorry to disagree with you.K.Datta was a great admirer of Noorjehan,no doubt.Infact,he always felt that there was no replacement for Noorjehan when she left for Pakistan.
But it is also true that he was convinced about Lata’s capability to fill the void of Noorjehan.
After Noorjehan left,he switched over to Lata. Please note that the above film is of 1951,well after Noorjehan left India.
He had given few songs to Lata even when NJ was here, but afterwards Lata was his main singer.
Kindly refer to comments on the song “Tirulilla,Tirulilla….” posted on this blog on 31-3-2011,wherein I have given more information about K.Datta.
In Marathi, several Lata songs done by K.Datta are famous.
