Armaan bharaa dil toot gayaa

Posted on: July 30, 2011

Here is a forgotten gem from a forgotten movie that I have just discovered. This song is from “Wafa” (1950). This movie had Nimmi and Karan Dewan in lead roles.

This song is a duet sung by Lata and Mukesh, and it is reasonably safe to assume that the song is picturised on Nimmi and Karan Dewan.

Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. This movie had two music directors, viz Bulo C Rani and Vinod. Conflicting information is available about the music director of this movie, with one uploader in youtube even mentioning the name of Anil Biswas as music director !

I assume that this song is composed by Bulo C Rani. Knowledgeable readers are requested to throw more light on this matter.

Lyrics

armaan bharaa dil toot gayaa
taqdeer ke aansoo behte hain
duniyaa ke sitam kaa afsaanaa
ham apne dil se kehte hain

in chaand sitaaron se poochho
barbaad huyi hain neenden bhi
in chaand sitaaron se poochho
barbaad huyi hain neenden bhi
ye phool bane hain angaarey
ham yaad mein jalte rehte hain

jalti hai shamaa to raaton ko
jab aaye saweraa chain mile
jalti hai shamaa to raaton ko
jab aaye saweraa chain mile
is dil ki lagi bechain nahin
din raat sulagte rehte hain

sukh chain gayaa dukh dard milaa
dil deke tadapnaa le baithhe
sukh chain gayaa dukh dard milaa
dil deke tadapnaa le baithhe
jeene kaa sahaaraa koi nahin
ham dard mein doobe rehte hai.n

duniyaa ka yahi dastoor rahaa
har pyaar bharaa dil choor rahaa
duniyaa ka yahi dastoor rahaa
har pyaar bharaa dil choor rahaa
honthon pe khushi ke geet nahin
ab gham ke taraane rehte hain

armaan bharaa dil toot gayaa
taqdeer ke aansoo behte hain
