Dekho roothha na karo baat nazron ki suno

on:Here is another song from the popular “How come this song was not posted earlier !” category. My excuse for not posting it earlier remains the same old one. I thought the song was already discussed but I was wrong.
This song is from “Tere Ghart Ke Saamne” (1963) and as many as four fantastic songs from this movie have already been discussed. How was I to know that there were still a few more fantastic songs left in the movie to be discussed.
This song is a romantic duet, and it is one that sounds extremely sweet and cute.
The song is sung by Rafi and Lata and it is picturised on Dev Anand and Nutan. Lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri are the soul of this song which has been brilliantly composed by S D Burman.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.
Song-Dekho roothha na karo (Tere Ghar Ke Saamne)(1963) Singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-S D Burman
Lyrics(Provided by nahm)
Dekho rootha na karo
baat nazron ki suno
ham na bolenge kabhi
tum sataaya na karo
dekho rootha na karo
baat nazron ki suno
ham na bolenge kabhi
tum sataaya na karo
dekho rootha na karo
chehra to laal huaa
yaar kya haal huaa
is adaa par teri
main to pamaal huaa
tum bigadne jo lago
aur bhi haseen lago
ham na bolenge kabhi
tum sataaya na karo
dekho rootha na karo
jaan par meri bani
aap ki thehri hansi
haay main jaan gayi
pyaar ki fitnaagari
dil jalaane ke liye
thandi aahen na bharo
dekho rootha na karo
baat nazron ki suno
ham na bolenge kabhi
teri khushboo ne mere
hosh bhi chheen liye
hai khushi aaj hamein
tere pehlu mein gire
dil ki dhadkan pe zaraa
phool sa haath rakho
ham na bolenge kabhi
tum sataaya na karo
dekho rootha na karo
kya kahegaa yeh samaa
in raahon ka dhuaan
laaj aaye mujhe
mujh ko laaye ho kahaan
ham tumhein maan gaye
tum bade wo ho hato
dekho rootha na karo
baat nazron ki suno
ham na bolenge kabhi
tum sataaya na karo
dekho rootha na karo

Thanks for posting this song. Its one of my favorite, and the other being ‘ dil ka bhanwar kare purkar’ from the same movie. Also thanks to Sudhirji and Khyati ji, because i do need to know the meaning of the word ‘fitnaagari’. Sudhir ji can you also explain the word ‘pamaal’ in the stanza ” chehra to laal huaa
yaar kya haal huaa
is adaa par teri
main to pamaal huaa”..

Khyati ji
‘fitnah’ means mischief, also evil.
‘fitnah-gar’ means a mischievous or evil minded person
‘fitnah-gari’ means the doings of a ‘fitnah-gar’.
