“Gauna” (1950) is an obscure movie by now. This movie was a Jagat Pictures Production. It was directed by Amiya Chakravarty. Star cast of the movie had names like Usha Kiran, Anoop Kumar, Purnima, S. Nazir, Kesari, Shailendra, Indumati, Wasti etc it.
Here is a rare and special song from this movie. This must be one of the few songs where one can hear the voices of Shamshad Begam, Rafi and Geeta Dutt. This is a three stanza song and the three singers get one stanza each to sing in that order. It is clear that the song is picturised on two ladies and one gentleman, but only the audio is available and so it is difficult to guess who these actors could be. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

Change of word in the mukhdaa :
mujhse ye keh rahi hain
“tasveer” ki lakeeren
Shamshad Begum is singing it as ‘tasveer’ ki lakeeren” once. Everywhere else it is ‘taqdeer ki lakeeren’.

Atul ji,
What a coincidence that just now I talked of the competetion between Gyan Mukherjee and Amiya Chakravarty and the songs of these 2 films,Gauna and Leela are posted,one after another.
GAUNA-50 was answer of A.Chakra to Gyan Mukherjee,because the stories of both films were same( as in the past also Kismat and Basant,Badal and Shamsher and sitaron se aagey and Kathputali were made on same stories by these two stalwarts,sometimes using the same Heroines also).
This was a Jagat Films production Directed by Amiya Chakravarty.
Story and s/play were by Ali sagheer usmani and Devi Sharan and dialogues were by Vrajendra Gaud.
The cast was as mentioned in the post.
