Ae dard e jigar fariyaad na kar

I became aware of the movie when farmaish for a song of this movie was given by a reader some two years back. The reader had mentioned the movie as “Banu” which was a typo and as a result my search was delayed. Finally I located the song. Being able to home in on this elusive song gave me tremendous satisfaction. That song was the first song from this movie to be posted in this blog. Subsequently I have discussed two more songs from this movie.
I have in fact discovered as many as nine songs from this movie. During the process of searching for these songs, I realised that there are a large number of movies containing the word “Bahu” in them. 🙂
“Bahu” (1955) was a P R films presentation. It was directed by Shakti Samanta. The movie had Karan Dewan, Usha Kiran, Shashikala, Mumtaz Begum, Johnny Walker, Bipin Gupta, Mehmood, Kundan, Pran etc in it.
Here is another nice song from this movie. This song is sung by Lata. S H Bihari is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hemant Kumar.
Only the audio of this song is available but it seems almost certain that this melancholic song was picturised on Usha Kiran.
The lyrics of this song were sent to me by Khyati Bhatt and this was her 100th lyrics to appear in the blog. With this, she joins the list of other centurion contributors to this blog.
Here is hoping that we will have many more contributions from her in future. It is so heartening to see that so many contributors have joined in the bandwagon of likeminded music lovers. Their contributions are limited not just to sending lyrics, but they add so many other dimensions to the blog with their inputs. On my part I will try to cope with all these contributions the best I can. Do not be frustrated if I have big backlog of your contributions remaining undiscussed. All of them are there with me. Be patient and I am sure all the contributions will see the light of the day sooner or later. And let us continue to enjoy our musical journey together.
