From the little I know about “Mahua” (1969), it was a story about re incarnation, but unlike say “Madhumati” (1958) and “Milan” (1967), the makers of this movie were not clear about what they wanted to present to the public. The movie finally ended up with a confused story line which was given a thumbs down by the movie goers.
The one silver lining for this movie was its music. In fact the music of this movie was so good that a movie of this calibre did not deserve this nice music.
The movie was a Mitra Production presentation. It was directed by B Mitra.The cast included Shiv Kumar, Anjana Manjrekar, Aruna Irani, Badri Prasad, Farha, Murad, Premnath, Asit Sen, Jankidas, Ullhas etc.
Debutants Shiv Kumar and Anjana Manjrekar (now known as Anjana Mumtaz) were the lead pair and they failed to emulate Dilip Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala (Madhumati) or Sunil Dutt and Nutan (Milan). In fact it was unfair to expect these debutants to live up to such tough ask. They got this role because the movie was a low budget movie.
But what songs this music had ! I have already discussed two songs from this movie. Here is another song from the movie. This song is mainly sung by Asha Bhonsle with Omi uttering a small phrase “o o Mahua” occasionally. Anjana lip syncs in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. Who lip syncs in Omi’s voice ? I request our knowldgeable readers to tyhrow more light on this matter. It could well be Shiv Kumar or some one else, but unlike Anjana, whom I know fropm her TV serial roles, I am not familiar with Shiv Kumar at all.
PS-My surmises about the movie is as confused as the story line of the movie. So the tale of this movie was not about one reincarnation, but two reincarnations !
It emerges from the information offered by Mr ArunkumarDeshmukh that the female dancer is Shareefa. The male dancer with the dhol is Shiv Kumar.
Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sonik Omi.

I think it is FARHA
(I have read it somewhere-she is either a regional actress or a one film wonder)(Arunji Help) and the guy with dhol is shiv kumar and anjana mumtaz is there before Mother Mary with Premnath.

Prakash ji,
She is NOT Farah.
In this film this Farah(a senior artist) did the role of Rani-mother of Mahua,in the previous birth.In this birth Palash (Shivkumar) and Mahua (Anjana) are in love,but Rajkumar(Premnath) comes in their way and Mahua is married off to him.
This is a highly confusing story of 3 births and the Hero has done 3 roles,namely,Palash,Kanhaiya and Bramhesh.The Heroine has also done 3 roles,namely,Mahua,Trishna and Manisha.
The dancer is positively Shareefa.

i don’t think the dancer is Anjana. it is the bride inside the church who seems to be getting married to Premnath with a one-eyed Ranjeet watching who is Anjana. Arunji help!!!!:-))

The dancer is certainly not Anjana,who has a distinct squint in her eyes(a subtle type-not open one).You are right.The girl who is getting married to Premnath is Anjana.
The dancer,I think, is Shareefa.
