Prakash ji has written for the second time in ‘Readers Farmaishes’ requesting for the upload of this wonderful sad song in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar. The music composition is by that underrated genius – Ganesh. Prakash ji has mentioned that the song itself is not posted anywhere on the internet. So when I read this comment from Prakash ji, repeating his request for this song, I had to pull this out from my collection, and have posted it on YouTube today.
The song is from film Shararat (1972). The film is produced under the banner of RM Arts, Bombay, and is directed by Manmohan Desai. The music is by Ganesh. The songs are from the pen of three poets, Hasrat Jaipuri, Indeevar and Asad Bhopali. This song is written by Indeevar. The start cast is impressive, and includes Mumtaz, Biswajeet, Shatrughan Sinha, Faryal, Durga Khote, Raj Mehra, Lata Sinha, Madhumati, Mehmood Junior, Kamal Mehra, Neelam, Ram Avtar, Kirti Kumar etc.
The singing voice is that of Lata Mangeshkar. As Prakash ji has earlier mentioned in his comment, this song is performed by Mumtaz on screen. The notable thing about the music composition is the wonderful use of the violin, to express the intense pain of sorrow that the words represent. The composition is superb and demanding, and the rendition by Lata ji is equally expressive. Prakash ji, thanks for the reminder for this wonderful sad song.

Shaniwaar ki raat main iss gaane ke liye paagal ki tarhaa youtube site mein search kar rahaa thaa aur lo aaj subah computer kholaa tho mere saamne ye gaanaa.
zyaadaa nahin likhoongaa, aaj tho DHANYAWAAD(ye shabd aap donon ke liye bahut hi chhotaa pad raha hai, phir bhi) nahin likha tho achcha nahin lagtha.
