Tum mujhse door chale jaanaa na

Posted on: July 21, 2012

“Ishq Par Zor Nahin” (1970) was a Twinkle Stars presentation. It was produced by Suresh Saigal and directed by Ramesh Saigal. The movie had Sadhana, Dharmendra, Biswajeet, Kamini Kaushal,Madhumati, Nadira,Randhir, Meena.T, Udayachandrika(south),Leela Mishra, Jagdeesh Raj, Abhi Bhattacharya, Jagdeep etc in it.

As many as three songs from this movie have been discussed in the past, but I have little idea about the story of the song.

Just now I saw the picturisation of another song from the movie. The song as well as its picturisation leaves quite an impact. The picturisation shows a badly injured Dharmendra lying in hospital while Leela Mishra and Biswajeet (his mother and brother, I presume) wait and pray outside the room. Sadhana, playing the love interest of Dharmendra is near Dharmendra while this song sung by Lata plays in the background.

The song is written by Anand Bakshi. S D Burman is the music director.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra who also informed me that the video misses one stanza whereas the audio contains the full song.

Here is this poignant song from “Ishq Par Zor Nahin”(1970) which I became aware of only just now.

Audio (Full song)

Video(only 1st and 3rd stanza picturisation)

Song-Tum mujhse door chale jaana na (Ishq Par Zor Nahin)(1970) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-S D Burman

One of the greats of SD-Lata combination.

Very true Ashok~ji. Another wonderful SD-Lata combo is the breezy ‘Such kehthi hai duniya, ishaq pe zor nahi, yeh kachha dhaga hai, yeh kachhe dor nahi…”
The movie, was launched as ‘Bairagi Bhawnwra’. Thee’s even a beautiful Lata song that goes, “O mere bairagi bhawnra…” But somehow, during the shooting, the producers changed it to ‘Ishq par zor nahin’.
If the movie is remembered today, it is solely on account of the lovely songs. The story was the run of the mill love triangle. Biswajeet is a rich guy and Dharam is a poor guy. To cut a long story short, Biswajeet sacrifices his life to unite the lovers.

Thanks for this information.

You’re welcome,Atul~ji. This is perhaps the only movie where Dharmendra and Sadhana were paired together. This is also the only movie where Biswajeet acted with Dharmendra and Sadhana. He may have lacked the he-man qualities of Dharam but he acquitted himself quite well in ‘Ishq par zor nahin’.

Biswajeet and Dharmendra also acted together in Kahte Hain Mujhko Raja (1975) directed by Biswajeet.

Yes, Maniji. You have said it right. All songs are melodious and movie is just remembered today for this reason. I do have the CD and it has seven songs. I love Ashaji’s song pyaar bhari ek baat chali….. also.

I would like to point 2 glaring things on viewing this song : (1) This song was ment to be a lip sync song, but the director at the last moment thought it advisable to play it as a background song. Afterall it would have looked so out of place, Sadhana singing in the hospital. But because they had recorded it as a lip sync song, Lataji breaks down after the first antra and does not complete the repeat mukhda, and Sadhana weeps in sync. This is quite noticable. (2) Sadhana is dressed up as a rural girl, but her hairstyle ? As her Sadhana-cut hairstyle had become a rage, the director didnot have the courage to give her a different look. And this hairstyle does not go with the character Sadhana is portraying.
