“Avtaar” was an Emkay Productions movie. It was produced and directed by Mohan Kumar. The movie had Rajesh Khanna,Shabana Azmi, A.K.Hangal, Sachin, Preeti Sapru, Gulshan Grover, Rajni Sharma, Shashi Puri, Yunus Parwez, Pinchoo Kapoor, Madhu Malini, Ranjan Grewal, Madan Puri, Master Rinku, Shivraj etc in it.
We have seen “remonstrating with the Almighty” songs in Hindi movies. Here is a thanksgiving song, where people hail the Almighty for all the blessings that he has showered over people.
This nice and hummable song is sung by Kishore Kumar and chorus. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
As a tribute to A K Hangal(1 feb 1914- 26 aug 2012), here is this song which is picturised on lots and lots of actors, including A K Hangal. The song is picturised on Rajesh Khanna, A.K.Hangal, Shabana Azmi, Sachin, Sujit Kumar, Rajni Sharma, Yunus Parwez, Gulshan Grover, Shashi Puri, Preeti Sapru, Shivraj etc. Come to think of it, almost the entire starcast of the movie is visible in this song !

He was in the Industry for so long, most of the today’s big names would have worked with him. Still, they didnt feel it necessary to attend to Hangalji’s funeral.

Many of our actors die in poor condition and to add to the misery our so called stars do not care to even pay tribute to the actors who contribute to the industry so much. It is generally becoming our culture to -not respect our elders, not remember our histroy, not remembering the hardships of the people who dedicated their life for cinema, arts and culture. why is it so??? , ek kahawat hai ki ‘jo apna itihaas bhool jaate hai, itihaas unhe kabhi maaf nahin karta ‘(correct me if i am wrong) … our country is already loosing its essence – that of humanity and culture.

Avtaar was Rajesh Khanna’s first big hit-super hit of his second innings and followed by Souten, another hit. I Like this song very much and there were other good songs also in the movie.Had watched this movie many times then.It run full house for weeks together. Nice Post !!! Thanks Prakash ji!!
