on:Today (29 august) is the birthday of Leena Chandawarkar. Yesterday (28 august) was the birthday of Anil Dhawan. These two had worked together in “Honeymoon” (1973), which was a Rajshree production movie which was produced by Tarachand Barjatya and directed by Hiren Nag. The movie had Anil Dhawan, Leena Chandavarkar, Suresh Chatwal, Nazima, Utpal Dutt, Shyama, Mukri, Sunder, Leela Misra, Senior Sulochana, Pravin Paul, Purnima, Agha, Shammi, Uttam Anand, Shail Chaturvedi, Praveen Kumar, Uma Dhawan, Madhup Sharma, Tarun Ghosh, Machhar, Sonal, Darshan, Pardesi, Shriram Shashtri, Baby Gayatri, Mona, Rajni,Indu Mehta etc on it.
On the occasion of their birthday (a bit belated for anil Dhawan though), here is this fabulous duet from “Honeymoon” (1973). It is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore and it is picturised on Leena Chandawarkar and anil Dhawan.
Yogesh is the lyricist. Music is composed by Usha Khanna.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

kahoon jo bhi kehnaa hai
haan sanam

mere dono jahaan
kehne ko hum hain do

kab se thhaa tumhaaraa intezaar
tum aaye to aayaa qaraar

Ooo my favorite movie from 1973. It had a cute story. Leena is involved with Suresh Chatwal and Nazima with Anil Dhawan. But a friend of theirs who had a love marriage just got a divorce. So the innocent girls decide that they should dump their boyfriends and marry whom their parents want them to. As fate would have it they marry each others’ boyfriends on the same day at the same time, so they never get to see each others’ spouses. They also land up at the same place for their Honeymoon, Ranikhet.
They keep running into their ex-es and feeling scared. The girls keep wanting to meet each others’ husbands, but usually fail because the guys keep running away. It was a very very sweet and a funny film. I wish I could see it once more.
At that time if we really liked a movie, we just saw it again and again. 🙂 And that is what I did. 🙂
Thanks for posting this and Happy Birthday Leena!
Happy Birthday Anil Dhawan!

Rajshree production movies tended to be sweet movies that one wanted to see many times. I too ended up watching “Dulhan wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaaye” five times.

Yes, that too! 🙂 Rameshwari was so beautiful, and the movie so sweet and such a cinderella like fairy tale. What’s not to love 🙂
