Tauba ye nazaare ye qaatil ishaare

While talking of a movie called “Dillagi”, The only movie of this name that I was aware of during my teenage days was “Dillagi” (1978), which was a Basu Chatterjee directed romantic comedy movie starring Dharmendra and Hema Malini.
Then I found out that there was another movie of the same name which was released in 1949. This older movie had some songs that were played quite frequently in “Puraani filmon ke geet” programme in Radio Ceylon. In addition tro scoffing at such old songs, my generation of people found these song amusing too.The most amusing of all the “Dillagi” (1949) songs was Tu mera chand main teri chaandni . 🙂
And now, more than three decade later, I have discussed all the eleven songs from “Dillagi”(1949), whereas not a single song from “Dillagi” (1978) has made it to the blog so far.
There was another “Dillagi” in 1966 too. I have in fact discussed one song from this movie in the past.
“Dillagi” (1966) was a Golden Films Production. It was produced by Tony Walker and it was directed by S Bannerji. Tony Walker was Johny Walker’s brother, in case someone failed to guess it from the names. 🙂 The movie had Mala Sinha, Sanjay, Nazima, Vijay Kumar, Johny Walker, Jagirdar, Amar, Keshav, Khurshid, Hammad, Tun Tun, Moolchand, Pravin Paul, Tony Walker, Bela Bose etc in it. The actor Vijay Kumar was another of Johny Walker’s brother. I wonder why he did not use Walker with his name. Vijay Walker or VW in short would have appeared quite cool. 🙂
Here is a song from “Dillagi” (1966). This song is the movier opening song. The song plays in the background song as the titles appear on the screen and Sanjay Khan is seen riding a horse in the manner of a Clint Eastwood or equivalent. But being a desi movie, the song must talk of pretty lady/ ladies whose possess looks that kill (or rather rob- in case of literal translation of the lyrics).
The song is sung by Rafi. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

and Basu Bhattacharya married Bimal roy`s daughter and Basu bhattacharya`s son Aditya bhattacharya directed Amir khan, supriya pathak experimental movie RAAKH and Aditya bhattacharya once upon a time married to Shashi kapoor`s daughter Sanjana Kapoor and Aditya bhattacharya acted in Mandi(as a young lover/customer to Smita patil)and in Aruna Raje`s Rihaee.
Please someone confirm the correctness of this fact. I may be wrong 🙂
