Mujhse shaam suhaani

on:“Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi” (1979) was adapted from “Haay Mera Dil”, a drama first staged in 1970s and which went on to complete over 1000 shows over the next four decades.
Interestingly enough, the Hindi drama itself was based on an English drama of 1960s called “Send me No Flowers” and that drama too was adapted to make a Hollywwod movie of the same name, namely “Send Me No Flowers” (1964),starring Rock Hudson and Doris Dey.
The story tells the story of a hypochondriac man who misunderstands his family doctor’s talk and comes to the conclusion that he has only a few days to live. He begins frantic efforts to make life easier for his wife by pairing her off with her old college mate, making arrangements for his last rites and making his will. The wife is unable to understand the husband’s strange behaviour. All this strange behaviour on his part provides masaala for fun which was lapped up by the audience.
“Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi” (1979) had Amol Palekar, Ranjeeta, Ashok Saraf, Dilip Kulkarni, C S Dubey, master Raju, Nilu Phule etc in it.
Today (24 november) is the 67th birthday of Amol Palekar. On this occasion, here is a song from “Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi” (1979). This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Rafi. The song is picturised on Ranjeeta and Amol Palekar.
Ravindra Jain is the lyricist. Music is composed by Usha Khanna.

Lyrics(Provided by Peevesie’s Mom)
Mujhse Shaam Suhani
la la la la la la
a ha ha ha ha
la la la la la la
a ha ha ha ha
mujhse shaam suhaani
pooche prem kahaani
aadhi hain adhuri hain
main kya boloon
jaani jaani jaani
apni prem kahaani
darta hoon o deewaani
kehne main sunaane main
ho na jaaye puraani
hm hm
hmm hmm
pehli pehli baar
tumne mujhko dekha
aankhon ke uspaar
khich gayi gehri rekha
ho gayi tab se raat ki surat
aankh ki baatein yaad zabaani
mujhse shaam suhaani
poochhe prem kahaani
aadhi hain adhoouri hain
main kya boloon
jaani jaani jaani
mehndi waale haath
dede haathon mein mere
yeh mere din raat ho jaayenge tere
hogi phir har shaam nasheeli
raat rangeeli bhor suhaani
apni prem kahaani (la la la la)
darta hoon o deewaani (la la la la la)
kehne mein sunane mein
ho na jaaye puraani (la la la la la la )
hmm hmm
hmm hmm
