on:“Chandan Ka Palna” (1967) was an Aarzoo Films Production. It was directed by Ismail Mohan. The movie had Dharmendra, Meena Kumari, Mehmood, Bipin Gupta, Durga Khote, Meena Kumari, Dhumal, Mukri, Mumtaz, Nazir Hussain, Asit Sen etc in it.
One song from this movie has been discussed in the past. Here is another song from this movie. I had never heard this song before. I loved the very first time that I got to listen to this song a few hours ago. This song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Dharmendra and Meena Kumari.
Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.
This song is a forgotten gem that deserves to be better known among music lovers.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Avinash Scrapwala.

Lyrics(Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)
Tumhe dekha hai maine gulsitaan mein ae
tumhe dekhaa hai maine gulsitaan mein ae
tumhe dekhaa hai maine gulsitaan mein ae
ke jannat dhoondh lee hai iss jahaan mein ae
tumhe dekhaa hai
koyee ho baaat
koyee ho baat
koyee ho fasaana aa aa
tumhe hi yaad kartaa hai zamaana aa
tumhaara zikr hai har dastaan mein ae
ke jannat dhoondh lee hai iss jahaan mein ae
tumhe dekhaa hai
sukoon inse ae ae ae ae
aa aa aa aa aa
sukoon inse
inhi se bekaraari
Khudaake naam se zulfein tumhaari
Khudaayi kar rahi hai do jahaan mein ae
ke jannat dhoondh lee hai iss jahaan mein
tumhe dekha hai
tumhi hi ho meherbaan
tum hi sitamgar
badal sakta hai iss dil ka muqqadar
tumhaari ek naa mein
ek haan mein
ke jannat dhoondh lee hai iss jahaan mein
tumhe dekha hai
(The following stanza is available only in audio)
qayaamat hai ae ae
qayaamat hai
duhaayee hai
Khudaaya aa
kisi qaatil ko dil mein hai basaaya aa
ke rakh lee aag apne aashiyaan mein
ke jannat dhoondh lee hai iss jahaan mein
tumhe dekha hai maine gulsitaan mein ae
ke jannat dhoondh lee hai iss jahaan mein
tumhe dekhaa hai

R D Burman’s compositions of songs for ‘Chandan Ka Palna’ (1967) were quite a contrast to those of ‘Teesri Manzil’ (1966). R D Burman had said in an interview that ‘Chandan Ka Palna’ was the second film he signed after ‘Chhote Nawab’ (1961). It appears, this film was considerably delayed.
In this song, I get a feel of LP’s style of song composition and I am not complaining. I am an admirer of RDB’s songs bereft of his trade mark style. This song is one of his such songs.

Remember in Chote nawab Laxmi-pyare was his assistants.
Also Anand Baxi wrote most songs for laxmi-pyare. Plus Rafisaab like Laxmi-Pyare style better than fast pacing music of S-J.So, yes, this song has the signature of L-P 🙂
Oh, yeh, Meena is going gaga over this two timers He-man cause she was a divorcee (since 1964) and lonely.
