O Shankar mere kab honge darshan tere

on:When one looks at the songs picturised on Dilip Kumar, one finds that Dilip Kumar, for much of his career had lip synced mainly in the voices of Talat Mehmood, Mukesh and Rafi. In addition, he had also sung in the voices of G M Durrani and C Ramchandra. Then he had sung for himself as well in a few songs.
He had not lipsynced in the voices of other major singers till 1970s.
It was in 1970s that Dilip Kumar lip synced in Kishore Kumar’s voice for the first time. The movie was “Sagina” (1974). It was in 1970s that Dilip Kumar first lip synced in Mahendra Kapoor’s voice too. That was in “Gopi”(1970), and later Mahendra Kapoor would sing a few more songs for Dilip Kumar in the future.
Here is a bhajan from “Bairaag” (1976). It is sung by Mahendra Kapoor and chorus. This song is picturised on Dilip Kumar and others, so this song is one of those rare instances where Mahendra Kapoor’s voice is used for Dilip Kumar.
Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Avinash Scrapwala.

Lyrics(Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)
O Shankar mere ae ae ae ae
kab honge darshan tere
O Shankar mere ae ae ae ae
kab honge darshan tere
jeevan path par shaam savere
jeevan path par shaam savere
chhaaye hain ghanghor andhere
O Shankar mere ae ae
kab honge darshan tere
main moorakh tu antaryaamee
main moorakh tu antaryaamee
main sevak tu meraa swaami
main sevak tu meraa swaami
kaahe mujhse naataa todaa
mann chhoda
mandir bhi chhoda
kitni door
kitni door lagaaye tune
jaa Kailaash mein dere ae ae
O Shankar mere ae ae ae ae
kab honge darshan tere
tere dwaar pe jyot jagaate
tere dwaar pe jyot jagaate
Yug beetey tere gun gaate
O Yug beetey tere gun gaate
na maangoon main heere motee
maangoon bas thodi si jyoti
khaali haath naa jaaungaa main ae ae
khaali haath naa jaaunga main
daataa dwaar se tere ae ae
O Shankar mere ae ae ae ae
kab honge darshan tere
kab honge darshan tere
kab honge darshan tere
kab honge darshan tere
O kab honge darshan tere

Actress Ruma Guha Thakurta(Kishore Kumar`s first wife and singer Amit Kumar`s mother)`s portrait shown in the song, before which an aged Dilip kumar stands. Nazir hussain, Mukri, Mohan Choti, Naaz are other artistes featuring in the song.
Strange are the ways, two of Kishore kumar`s wives featuring as 2 heroines of Dilip kumar, with Leena Chandavarkar( Dilip sings “Saare shehar mein aapka koi nahin…… and Peete peete kabhi kabhi yun jaam” )
and another Dilip kumar acts with his real life partner Saira bano(singing Chotisi umar mein hai lag gayaa rog and Main bairaagi naachoon gaaoon) and for additional female roles, Helen also features in one or two scenes with Dilip saab.
Utter confusion prevails in the story plot, still got good music.
