“Chandrakanta” (1956) was a Sippy Films production movie. It was produced and directed by G P Sippy. The movie had Bharat Bhushan, Bina Rai, Johny Walker, Bipin Gupta, Hiralal, B M Vyas etc in it.
This movie is today mainly remembered for its iconic song, namely Maine chaand aur sitaaron ki tamanna ki thi. I wondered whether this movie had any other songs in it. Indeed there were other nice songs in it, but they got overshadowed by this song.
Here is a forgotten gem from “Chandrakanta” (1956). This song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by N Datta.
This song is a fantastic song to listen to. There are times when one would like to go away far from the madddening crowd and spend time away in solitude in nature’s lap. This song is an expression of that fond wish. This is an ideal song to be listened to late at night ( at Chaayaageet time). 🙂
Only the audio of this song is available. It is almost certain that this song is picturised on Bharat Bhushan and Bina Rai. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the picturisation of this song.

I really enjoy this song ,for its nice tune,simple words by GREAT saahir ,
and singing magic by ASHA and RAFI.
